Friends,
Tonight is Friday, February 27, 2026. It is the eve of the closing of our Food Pantry in Manville, and I find myself sitting here quietly reflecting on the last 15 years. Admittedly, I am filled with emotion.
There is a bit of sadness, because it marks the end of a 15-year era of helping our friends and neighbors in Manville and beyond.
There is also joy, because I have been blessed with the opportunity to do the work the Lord placed on my heart, even from a young age.
And abundant thanks for so many things: for family, friends, and neighbors who have been faithful to our mission and who have labored beside me, shoulder to shoulder, for years; for the new friends we met along the journey; and for the many opportunities we have had to laugh, cry, and pray with those who have come through our doors. Thanks to everyone who donated their time, finances, and resources to make the last 15 years possible.
Special thanks and love to my fellow board members who have helped drive this mission: Pastor Bruce, who has been our shepherd and has steadfastly lifted our mission up in prayer; Pete, for all the laughs along the way and for always being there when I needed backup; and Lisa, who filled in one day when we were short-staffed and never looked back. Thank you for your love, support, and encouragement over the years.
As this chapter comes to a close, I trust that the seeds planted over these 15 years will continue to bear fruit in ways we may never fully see. Though the doors of the pantry may close, the spirit of compassion, generosity, and community that defined this mission will live on in each of us. Thank you for allowing me to walk this journey with you. May we each continue to serve wherever and however we are called.
With a full heart,
Rodney
