‼️Tax relief for Nebraskans impacted by 2026 wildfires and storms

The IRS has approved an extension for impacted individuals and businesses in designated Nebraska counties. Tax returns and payments originally due during the relief period are now due Feb. 1, 2027.

The relief applies to counties impacted by the March and May wildfires, Pressey wildfire, May storms, and June wildfires.

WARNING ‼️ This afternoon's heavy rain is leading to flooding in certain low-lying areas. If you encounter standing or moving water on the road, don’t drive through it. Turn around and find another route. You don't know how deep the water is or what’s underneath it.

Heat indices will climb into the upper 90s to mid-100s, increasing the risk for heat-related illness.

Hot and humid conditions will stick around through the first half of the workweek before we finally cool back down.

💧Stay hydrated, take frequent breaks from the heat, and check on those who may be more vulnerable to extreme temperatures.

Cyclosporiasis Update

Nebraska DHHS has confirmed that 92 Nebraska cases are linked to an ongoing multi-state cyclosporiasis outbreak. While Nebraska has 218 confirmed cases overall, the risk to the general public remains low, and recalled products have been removed from store shelves.

Nebraska nonprofits and faith-based organizations impacted by the May 15–18 storms, tornadoes, and flooding may qualify for low-interest SBA disaster loans.

Funds can help repair facilities, cover operating costs, and strengthen buildings against future damage. Loans up to $2 million are available.

Fire danger is elevated across western Nebraska this weekend, with high to very high conditions expected. If you're in these areas, be extra cautious with any activity that could spark a wildfire. Avoid debris burning if possible, and if you have burned recently, continue checking your burn piles over the coming days to make sure they are completely out.
