Ready to step off!

Two ships built at the Fore River Shipyard in the City of Quincy actively participated in the D-Day invasion: the heavy cruiser USS Quincy (CA-71) and the battleship USS Nevada (BB-36).

USS Quincy (CA-71): This Baltimore-class heavy cruiser was built in Quincy and directly supported the American landings by bombarding heavily fortified German batteries and providing crucial gunfire support for the advancing land forces off Utah Beach.

USS Nevada (BB-36): This legendary battleship survived the December 1941 attack at Pearl Harbor. It served as a primary fire-support vessel during the Normandy landings, raining its 14-inch shells on German positions up to 20 miles inland.

Quincy Built, THE BEST you can say about a ship!
