UPDATE: The Grid Advisory has been updated. Please see our most recent post for the latest information.

Due to improved system conditions, SPP is ending the Energy Emergency Alert 2 (EEA2) for SPP’s West Balancing Authority Area (BAA), but remains under a Conservative Operations Advisory (stable conditions) until an anticipated end time of Saturday, Aug. 1, at 12 a.m. CT.

No controlled service interruptions (load shed) are being directed at this time. Individuals should contact their local utility for details specific to their area.

SPP has issued a Resource Advisory for its East BAA effective Saturday, July 25 at 12 p.m. through Thursday, July 30 at 7 p.m. Find a map of SPP’s East and West Balancing Authority Areas here: https://www.spp.org/grid-conditions

SPP has issued an Energy Emergency Alert Level 2 (EEA2) for its West Balancing Authority Area (BAA), effective until further notice as of Friday, July 24, 2026 at 8:04 p.m. The declaration of an EEA2 does not indicate that SPP is directing controlled service outages. Individuals should contact their local utility for details specific to their area.

Higher temperatures are returning to the region this weekend, putting more strain on our regional electric grid. You can keep up with current regional grid conditions through the Southwest Power Pool's Grid Conditions page. The Southwest Power Pool is one of seven Regional Transmission Organizations that are responsible for the operation and reliability of the U.S. bulk electric grid.

SPP is extending the Conservative Operations Advisory for the West Balancing Authority Area (BAA) through an anticipated end time of Saturday, July 25, at 12 a.m. CT. Conservative Operations Advisories are considered stable operating conditions and do not require the public to conserve energy or take any action, but are issued to raise awareness of potential threats to reliability among entities responsible for operating transmission and generation facilities.

This Conservative Operations Advisory for SPP’s West BAA went into effect Monday, July 20, at 11 a.m. CT.
