It’s time for tick checks! Pets can also be susceptible to tick bites and tickborne diseases:

- Check pets that go outdoors daily for ticks.
- If you find a tick on your pet, remove it right away. The longer the tick is attached, the more likely it is to pass along germs that can make pets and people sick.
- If you plan to use a tick prevention product, talk with a veterinarian to determine the safest and most effective choice for your pet.

Lincoln Animal Control would like to remind residents of the Running At Large ordinance in Lincoln. Dogs must be on a leash at all times when off of the owner’s property, including at City parks. Off leash dogs may cause problems with neighborhood dogs and citations could be issued for violations.

There are five dog runs in Lincoln that allow owners to exercise their dogs in open areas and they may be off leash. The owner must still have a leash available at all times and dogs must be on a leash when entering and exiting the dog runs.

List Lincoln Dog Runs:
🐶 Bowling Lake Park Dog Run - NW 44th and West Cu***ng streets. Includes approximately one acre of space for dogs of all sizes and parking that includes ADA accessible space.
🐶 Mahoney Park Dog Run - near 84th and Adams streets.
The Mahoney Park facility includes a four-acre space for large dogs and a one-acre area for small dogs.
🐶 Rickman's Run at Holmes Lake Park - east side of South 70th Street in Holmes Lake Park
Rickman's Run includes a 22.25-acre space for large dogs and a 1.45-acre area for small dogs.
🐶 Roper East Park Dog Run - N. 7th and Adams streets
The Roper Park facility includes a four-acre space for large dogs and a one-acre area for small dogs.
🐶 Stransky Dog Run at Peterson Park - 4419 Southwood Drive
The Stransky Dog Run facility includes a 2.55 acre space for large dogs and a one-acre area for small dogs.

In case you missed it…. final update and great news on the beaver Animal Control secured during extremely cold temps back in January. He was recently released back into the wild and went for a sunset swim.

From our friends at Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc. - Lincoln Beaver swims free after recovering in rehab! Earlier this year we shared the story of a North American Beaver that was found covered in icicles, thin and limping near a liquor store in Lincoln. When Lincoln Animal Control discovered him struggling along the sidewalk of a busy street, it was a clear sign that this cold-hardy species was displaced and needed help. He was immediately transported to The Baldwin Wildlife Center and after several months of specialized care, this resilient beaver made a full recovery and it was time for him to return to the wild.
