For those that access Ballfield Road.

From Superintendent Parry Graham:

Lincoln School slip-lane closure

For Lincoln School families, on the Monday that we return to school from vacation (April 27th) the slip-lane entrance from Lincoln Road onto Ballfield Road will be closed (the slip-lane is the curved additional entrance lane coming from the north). The closure is scheduled to last for three weeks, through Friday, May 15th.

There will still be the normal two lanes of traffic on Ballfield Road, but the closure of the slip lane could lead to some increased delays in the morning, especially for cars making the left-hand turn onto Ballfield Road from the south, and cars turning left onto Lincoln Road as they exit the campus. Once the Community Center project is finished, the Town is looking at the possibility of road work on the Lincoln campus over the next several years, and needs to collect information about possible traffic patterns if the slip-lane were to be eliminated. Thank you for your patience while the slip-lane is temporarily closed.

TOWN OF LINCOLN CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Update for the Town regarding the upcoming start of construction on the Bedford Road Drainage Project and the Phase 1 and Phase 2 Water Main Replacement work.

On Monday, April 20, the contractor is scheduled to begin the final Phase 1 infrastructure work on Tower Road and Lincoln Road. The work at this location is expected to be completed within two days.

The traffic impact in the area should be minimal.
• Lincoln Road will be open but restricted to one lane, with police officers on-site to direct traffic.
• Tower Road, between Pierce Hill Road and Lincoln Road, will be closed to through traffic.
• Residents on Tower Road will still be able to access their homes via Pierce Hill Road.

Old Town Hall will remain accessible from both the north and south sides of Lincoln Road. Any Tower Road residents who may be affected by a temporary water shutoff during construction will receive advance notice.

Drainage construction will begin as soon as the Phase 1 work on Lincoln and Tower Road is complete. Work will start at the five-way intersection and then move north along Bedford Road. This work is expected to last approximately 8 weeks. Traffic will be detoured around this area for the duration of the work.

The Phase 2 Water Main Project construction is projected to begin between May 22 and June 19.

Lastly the town would like to remind residents on how future communication during construction will occur.
• Routine updates will be listed on the Town project webpage (www.lincolnbigdig.com)
• Use of reverse 911 calling will only be used in cases of urgent, time sensitive updates.
• Direct notices will be issued for affected properties when water service interruptions or temporary driveway restrictions are expected.
• Detail officers, on-street message boards, cones, and detour signs in and around active work zones will also be utilized.
The Town appreciates your patience and cooperation during this work.

Thank you.

Happy National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the dedicated women and men that make up our dispatch department. They are the voices you hear when you call 911 or the business line. They are the ones who are tasked with getting the right resources to a call in a timely and efficient manner. Their work often goes unseen but is the first, most critical component in addressing an emergency. We want to take this opportunity to directly thank Mike, Mark, Sam, Chrissy, and Colleen for all they do!

Although we were unable to meet with the amazing, Mayra Gillis - Ambassador, we were honored she included our department as her 54th stop. She dropped off 5 Sensory Kits that will help in deescalating stressful situations by providing comfort items and tools that will aid in communication. These kits will be added to our marked cruisers. Mayra, we are inspired by you! THANK YOU!

PRESS RELEASE

On Friday, January 9th the Lincoln Police Department was contacted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, who made the Town and District aware of the death of a Princeton, Massachusetts individual who was under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Department for possible possession of child sexual abuse material. Town and School officials learned that the suspect, now deceased, had previously been employed as a staff member with the Lincoln Extended-day Activities Program (LEAP), a private not-for-profit program located on the Ballfield Road Lincoln School campus. The deceased was employed by LEAP beginning in September, 1988; in March, 2014 he separated from LEAP.

The matter remains under investigation by the State Police and the District Attorneys of Worcester and Middlesex Counties. According to the County and State authorities, no evidence has been found suggesting victimization of any children the individual worked with. Town officials will continue to coordinate with State officials and will offer whatever support the LEAP organization and community requires. Questions or concerns should be directed to the Lincoln Police Department at 781-259-8111, and parents with concerns about their children's interactions with the deceased can also contact the Middlesex County Child Advocacy Center at 781-897-8400.
