Friends of Lincoln Memorial Library

Friends of Lincoln Memorial Library Non-profit charitable organization.

In 1992 a dozen library volunteers created the “Friends of the Lincoln Memorial Library” as a legal non-profit organization dedicated to the support and advancement of the Lincoln Memorial Library. Early on, the organization began fundraising efforts that have since become community traditions, such as our bi-annual Book Sales. The Friends have actively sought grants, gifts, and bequests and used

the funds to create new resources at the Library, including new programs and an excellent video collection. Thanks to these efforts in building a strong foundation, the Friends today have resources and opportunities to help support the Library in a variety of ways. Working with the Library Director and Advisers, the Friends seek to set fundraising goals that support and supplement the Town's Library budget. Recently our goals have been to help refurbish the Children's Room and provide much-needed movable stacks for the children's picture books.

Did you know the library shows a movie every Friday afternoon in the children's area at 3 pm. This is possible because the Friends of the Lincoln Memorial Library purchases a movie license for us. This is open for all ages and you may bring a covered drink and snack. Come check us out and maybe a few books while you are here.

If you are in the neighborhood stop in at the library and check out our Hall of Fame wall located in the downstairs hallway of all the young children well on their way of having 1000 books read to them before Kindergarten.

Meg and friend from the Penobscot Valley Humane Society recently came and visited with the Homeschoolers Group. She explained what they do and why they are always needing donations. This is the third year the Homeschoolers will be collecting supplies for the Humane Society. While you are shopping this holiday season think of the animals and drop something off in the box located in the children's area of the library near the back entrance. The kids and animals thank you!
