Gov. Jim Pillen joined the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Build America Bureau, the Federal Highway Administration and NDOT today to highlight a new initiative to accelerate the delivery of transportation projects across seven counties in Nebraska.

The initiative is fueled through $5.15 million in federal funds from the Build America Bureau and FHWA, including a $1.15 million Regional Infrastructure Accelerator (RIA) Grant, $2 million through the Innovative
Finance and Asset Concession (IFAC) Program, and $2 million awarded with the Omaha-Council Bluffs
Metropolitan Area Planning Agency under the Prioritization Process Pilot Program.

These grants will help NDOT modernize its business practices, expedite projects and deliver faster, safer and more efficiently for Nebraskans. Read more at https://ndot.info/9e7e26

Gear up for a busy travel weekend and make a game plan!

Between the first Husker game and Labor Day weekend, plan ahead for construction and delays, and know your route before you hit the road.

Use Nebraska 511 to check road conditions and construction impacts before you leave. Heading to the game? Use Waze to navigate around local traffic and closures once you’re in Lincoln.

***UPDATE: Drivers can take I-180 when traveling into Lincoln. Please drive with caution through work zones.***

With the first Husker football game of the season just days away, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, the Nebraska State Patrol, the Lincoln Police Department, and NDOT are urging drivers to plan ahead before making the trip to Memorial Stadium. This season, game day traffic patterns will be different due to ongoing construction projects in the Lincoln area.

Fans coming into Lincoln from Omaha and eastern Nebraska are asked to use one of these recommended routes:

-I-80 to Exit 409 for Waverly/US-6 and follow US-6 west to Cornhusker Highway.

-I-80 to Exit 405 to 56th Street.

-I-80 to Exit 403 at 27th Street to Salt Creek Roadway.

-If you miss the recommended exits above, you can take I-180, or proceed on I-80 to the Lincoln Airport Exit 399 to NW 12th Street that turns into Cornhusker Highway, to I-180 south into downtown Lincoln.

Plan ahead by using Nebraska 511 to plan your route, and downloading the Waze app to help navigate within Lincoln. Drive safe this football season. Go Big Red!

Today marks two years of the Nebraska Infrastructure Hub!

Launched in 2024 as Nebraska’s first intergovernmental agency, the IHUB works to empower state and local agencies to compete for federal discretionary grants and deliver impactful infrastructure projects.

In just two years, the IHUB has reviewed 152 projects, supported 64 local agencies across 59 Nebraska counties and submitted 67 grant applications.

These photos show survey crews working between Kearney and Minden. If you’re traveling through the area, keep an eye out for workers near the roadway and give them plenty of space.

Slow down, stay alert, and remember their work often takes them close to moving traffic.

Congratulations to the City of Crete on being awarded a $1.15 million Federal-State Partnership (FSP) Project Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration!

The funding will support an evaluation of eight existing at-grade crossings in Crete on BNSF-owned infrastructure to determine whether the crossings should be upgraded, improved, or permanently closed. The FSP program provides funding for projects that enhance rail safety and improve infrastructure.

Crete was one of 41 projects selected across 23 states as part of the $5.3 billion federal investment.

With rain and storms moving through parts of the state overnight and into the morning, drive with caution and watch out for flooded roadways. Flood warnings are in effect in parts of central Nebraska, and more rain and storms could be in store again tonight.

If you come across flood water, remember:
-Do NOT drive into flooded roadways or around a barricade. Turn around, don't drown!
-Water may be deeper than it appears and can hide hazards.
-A vehicle caught in fast-moving water can be swept away in seconds.
