We’re excited to welcome Emma Levy who joined us this May as the Senior Events & Volunteers Manager.

Emma is driven by a deep commitment to building resilience and a sense of place in the communities where she lives and works. Before joining The Food Project, she worked for Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound and Walker Therapeutic & Educational Programs, managing their fundraising events and volunteer programs. She holds a B.A. in English and Environmental Studies from Williams College, where she also worked as an educator at the local land trust and nature day camp.

A proud Mainer and current resident of Somerville, Emma can be found playing roller derby, making music with friends, and exploring Greater Boston’s green spaces in her free time.

Since joining us she’s loved getting to be out on the farms and is excited to see what a full season looks like.

Good things are still growing here at The Food Project. Not in spite of how hard the world is today, but right alongside it.

This summer we've set the ambitious goal of raising $100,000 in support of our summer youth crews, as they sign up to be part of what's working in this world.

We are not waiting to be rescued. We are farming, organizing, and standing in solidarity — because that is what this moment demands. The Food Project is not a place where hope is running out. It is a place where the land is producing, young people are leading, and the community shows up together, stubbornly, with seeds in hand.

That is only possible because of you.

A gift right now is a declaration we are stepping forward together.

[$15.50] pays a teen for an hour.
[$25] supports accessible vegetables for a family at a community fridge.
[$100] seeds a new culturally rooted crop trial.

As we're approaching our youth crews joining us this summer, we're very excited to welcome Isabel Jorge Colina as the North Shore Youth Development Manager for Seed and Dirt Crew!

Driven by a deep commitment to resource access, empowering youth, and community led change, Isabel first joined us last summer as a Crew Leader and has since stayed with TFP building strong relationships with youth by encouraging them to bring their TFP experiences to affect their interests and work outside of the organization.

Before joining The Food Project, Isabel worked at her college’s makerspace and spent multiple summers working outside at a garden center, building a tiny house, working and volunteering on local farms, and stewarding a community garden.

She's excited to see the transformation young people will experience as they recognize just how much hard work, critical thinking, and relationship building they are capable of!

The summer gardening workshop series is here!! 💚💚💚

Join Dorchester Urban Agriculture Ambassador Memia McAllister to explore new systems to add to your garden from ways of composting, watering, and mulching.

The first summer workshop is this Thursday. Memia will be joined by Mattapan UAA Melanie Floyd to go over ways to water your garden to save on your water bill and time in the garden.

We're excited to welcome a bunch of new TFP team members over the next few weeks!

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Misha Thomas who joined us this May as the Director of Engagement & Stewardship.

Misha brings over 10 years of experience in community development, food systems, and mission-driven partnership building. They are driven by a deep commitment to food justice, agriculture and the belief that sustainable change happens when communities are resourced, trusted, and centered.

Before joining The Food Project, Misha honed their skills at MassDevelopment, where they served as a Transformative Development Fellow — facilitating a Community Benefits Agreement that secured ongoing funding commitments from local developers, and managing place-based economic revitalization efforts in Taunton's TDI District.

Join us to fight the City of Boston’s Proposed Budget Cuts!

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has proposed a budget that cuts food security and urban agriculture initiatives. This includes removing GrowBoston’s $430k budget to provide grants to support urban gardener by building raised garden beds and provide gardening workshops.

Use the template below to write to the Mayor and your City Councilor before June to tell them how gardening impacts you and to urge them to fully restore the GrowBoston and Office of Food Justice budgets.
