Join us to fight the City of Boston’s Proposed Budget Cuts!

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has proposed a budget that cuts food security and urban agriculture initiatives. This includes removing GrowBoston’s $430k budget to provide grants to support urban gardener by building raised garden beds and provide gardening workshops.

Use the template below to write to the Mayor and your City Councilor before June to tell them how gardening impacts you and to urge them to fully restore the GrowBoston and Office of Food Justice budgets.

Thank you to Food Project alum David Schwartz a.ka. Twig Daddy for showing us around his greenhouse at the Trustee’s Plant Nursery in Mattapan and for sharing more about his path from youth crew member to today.

Stop by Boston’s City Farm Fest: Seedling Sale and Celebration this Saturday, May 9 to get your own berry bush or fruit tree from Twig Daddy. Plus stock up on seedlings and then stay for music, delicious food from Jamaica Mi Hungry, collective storytelling, arts and crafts, and more!

🌱🌸 🫑 Get your vegetable and flower seedlings and dig into The Food Project’s Ingalls Farm! There will be youth-led family friendly farm activities and tours of the farm.

If you would like to participate on the farm, we recommend bringing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
