Clean drinking water and reliable wastewater service are things many of us use every day without a second thought — but it takes dedicated teams working behind the scenes to make it all happen!

Behind the scenes every day, our Water and Wastewater Divisions work to deliver safe, reliable drinking water to our community and ensure wastewater is properly collected, treated, and managed. From maintaining critical infrastructure and responding to emergencies to conducting system monitoring and water quality testing, their work helps protect public health and support the daily needs of our residents and businesses.

While much of their work happens out of sight, the impact is felt throughout the entire community every single day.

As we wrap up National Public Works Week, we thank our Water and Wastewater Divisions for their commitment to keeping Lincoln safe, healthy, and running strong.

Have you ever wondered who responds when there’s a downed tree blocking the road or localized flooding during a storm? Meet our Streets Division!

From repairing roads and maintaining street signs to responding to downed trees, storm impacts, and localized flooding, this team is often one of the first to respond when issues arise in the community. Whether it’s clearing debris after a storm or helping keep roadways safe for drivers and pedestrians, the Streets Division works hard behind the scenes every day to keep Lincoln moving.

Rain or shine, weekdays or weekends, our Streets crews are ready to respond when the community needs them most.

During National Public Works Week, we thank our Streets Division for their dedication, quick response, and commitment to public safety.

Who helps keep Lincoln’s parks, public spaces, and City facilities looking their best? Our Facilities/Parks/Open Spaces Division!

From maintaining parks and landscaped areas to caring for City facilities and public spaces, this team works hard behind the scenes to help create clean, safe, and welcoming spaces for the community to enjoy every day.

Fun fact: the same team that maintains many of our public spaces is also responsible for putting up and decorating the Christmas tree at Beermann Plaza each holiday season — helping bring a little extra magic to Downtown Lincoln for the community to enjoy!

During National Public Works Week, we thank our Facilities/Parks/Open Spaces Division for helping make Lincoln a place our community is proud to call home.

What keeps the City of Lincoln’s vehicles and equipment ready to respond every day? Our Fleet Division!

Behind the scenes, our Fleet team works hard to inspect, maintain, and repair the City’s vehicles and specialized equipment — including Public Works trucks, fire engines, and police patrol vehicles. Their work helps ensure the equipment our teams rely on is safe, reliable, and ready to serve the community at a moment’s notice.

During National Public Works Week, we thank our Fleet Division for helping keep Lincoln moving and prepared every day!
