✨☄️ LOOK UP! THE ORIONIDS ARE COMING! ☄️✨

The night sky is putting on a show!

The Orionid Meteor Shower reaches its peak around October 22, and Elijah Clark State Park is a great place to get outside and enjoy the stars. 🌌

The Orionids are created by debris left behind by Halley’s Comet, entering our atmosphere at incredible speeds and creating streaks of light across the night sky.

🌠 When to watch: After midnight into the early morning hours
🌠 Where to watch: Find an open area with a clear view of the sky
🌠 What to bring: A blanket or chair, warm clothes, and a little patience!

You don't need a telescope. Just find a comfortable spot, turn your eyes toward the sky, and give yourself some time to watch.

As Stephen Hawking reminded us:

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.” ✨

So this October, take a few minutes to slow down, step outside, and look up.

Mark your calendars for October 31st and start planning those costumes and breaking out the decorations because we've got some Halloween fun headed your way!

👻 Halloween Costume Contest
Start putting together your best Halloween look! Spooky, silly, creative, or completely over-the-top, we can't wait to see what you come up with!

🏕️🎃 Campsite Decorating Contest
Campers, get ready to deck out your sites! Bring out the pumpkins, skeletons, cobwebs, lights, and all your favorite Halloween decorations and show us what you've got!

🚗🍬 WE NEED TRUNKS FOR OUR TRUNK-OR-TREAT!
Want to join in the fun? Decorate your car, truck, or SUV, bring some candy to hand out, and help us create a fun evening of trick-or-treating for our visitors!

🕸️ Please keep it family-friendly!
All costumes, campsite decorations, and decorated vehicles should be appropriate for guests of all ages. Spooky is welcome, but please avoid overly graphic, gory, or inappropriate displays.

🏆 Contest winners will be announced during our Halloween festivities on October 31st!

Please be advised that the mini golf course will be closed beginning Monday, July 20, for renovations and improvements.

At this time, we do not have an estimated reopening date, as the length of the project will depend on the progress of the renovations. We will provide updates as they become available.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the course and create an even better experience for our visitors.

Explore the beauty of the park and discover the birds that call it home! This easy, guided ¾-mile hike is perfect for bird enthusiasts of all experience levels. Meet at the park office.

🕯️ Forged on the Frontier: The World of Elijah Clark
📅 Saturday, July 4th
⏰ 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Step into Georgia's Revolutionary frontier and experience the legacy of General Elijah Clark. Enjoy hands-on demonstrations of 18th-century skills, including wax dipping, wood carving, and butter churning, and try the work that helped support a growing nation. $5 per person or $17.76 per family. Event will be held at the Elijah Clark cabin in front of the visitor's center.
