Special thanks to Maiden Fire Captain and North 321 member Zack Hansley for sharing this helmet cam video with us. This just shows what firefighters encountered on today’s fire and the environments we work in.
This shows the importance of having staffing 24/7 so we can respond effectively and operate efficiently on scenes.

STRUCTURE FIRE
This afternoon crews were dispatched to an automatic residential fire alarm. While enroute, CPI called comm center and advised they could see smoke and fire in the cameras of the house. Car 100 upgraded to a structure fire response adding Lincolnton and Pumpkin Center.
Car 100 and Engine 101 arrived to find a split level single family dwelling with smoke showing. Crews forced entry and found a vastly growing fire in the kitchen spreading into the living areas of the home. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and rescued 2 dogs from the home. The home sustained damage throughout but a lot of the belongings were saved thanks to a working alarm system.
We did administer oxygen to one of the dogs with our pet oxygen masks we keep on our engines to help the dog breath better from the smoke inhalation. Both dogs were taken to an emergency vet for evaluation.

CONGRATULATIONS Chief Hickman!!!!!

This morning, Assistant Chief Brady Hickman was presented with a scholarship from the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs to pursue his designation as a Fire Officer through the Center for Public Safety Excellence. This is a rigorous process and we wish Chief Hickman Luck.

Chief Hickman, Chief Fletcher and Engineer McConnell have been attending the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs Mid-Winter Conference this week where they have been adding to their leadership toolbox and networking with other Chiefs from across the state.

We are committed to providing professional and quality service to our community and we appreciate the support.

Members took advantage of the nice weather today for some mutual aid training. The owner of this house is tearing it down to build a new home and has allowed us to use it for training until demolition day. This type of training is vital to fire ground success and we appreciate every opportunity we get to improve our skills. Thanks to one of our mutual aid partners for coming out with us.
