We’re continuing our series highlighting local ordinances to help keep Lincolnton safe, clean, and accessible for everyone! Here is a quick guide to Section 130.09: Urban Camping and Improper Use of Public and Private Places.

Key Highlights:
🌳 Public Property: Camping, erecting tents/shelters, cooking, or storing personal belongings in city parks, streets, sidewalks, or greenways without a permit from Parks & Recreation is prohibited.

🏠 Private Property: Camping on private land requires written consent in your possession from the property owner. Camping is limited to a maximum of 5 consecutive days.

🎒 Unattended Belongings: Personal effects (bags, sleeping gear, cookware) should not be left unattended on public property for prolonged periods.

✅ Exceptions: Standard uses—such as medical emergencies, sitting at sidewalk cafes, enjoying parades, or using strollers/wheelchairs—are always permitted.

🚲 CITY ORDINANCE HIGHLIGHT: Bicycles on Sidewalks 🚲

As part of our ongoing effort to keep Lincolnton safe and walkable for everyone, today we’re highlighting Code Ordinance § 70.03 — Bicycles, Skateboards, and Roller Blades on Sidewalks.

Cyclists are encouraged to use designated bike lanes or travel on the right side of the road with the flow of traffic, following all standard traffic laws.

👏 Let's hear it for Officer Mims, who has been hard at work building our awesome new collection container for the United Way of Lincoln County's Stuff the Bus Campaign! 🎉

A huge thank you to our partners at Lowe's Home Improvement for donating the foam board to make this magnificent bus a reality. Now, we need your help to fill it up with school supplies for our local students!
