This Sunday, 16 East Lincoln students head to Bloomington, Indiana for the International Thespian Festival — and you can still be part of sending them there.
ITF is the largest and most prestigious high school theatre event in the world, and this year, our students are bringing their A-game. Some are competing on the national stage in events like Solo Musical, Duet Musical, Duet Acting, Group Musical, and Props Construction — earning their spots by receiving Superior ratings at the NC Thespian Festival. Others are attending for the full immersive experience: professional workshops, world-class performances, and connections with the most talented young theatre artists in the country.
In the words of one of our own students: "Beyond the amazing shows, the opportunity to attend workshops with career professionals takes everything to the next level."
This community helped build this program. Help us finish strong.

FOUND!

The Week 2 prize bag sponsored by Milk & Honey Mercantile and Lincoln Economic Development Association has officially been claimed at the Fairview Schoolhouse on the campus of North Brook Elementary! Congratulations to our winner for solving the clues and finding this week's hidden prize.

Now for the history behind the location...

Long before students carried Chromebooks, submitted assignments online, or rode buses to school, children in western Lincoln County gathered inside a single room to learn their lessons.

The Fairview Schoolhouse served the community from 1895 to 1925 as a one-room schoolhouse. Students of different ages learned together under the guidance of a single teacher, often sharing textbooks, supplies, and even the wood stove that kept the room warm during the winter months.

Today, the Fairview Schoolhouse remains one of Lincoln County's most treasured educational landmarks. When the current North Brook Elementary School was built in 1987, many older school buildings across the area were closed. Thankfully, the Fairview Schoolhouse was preserved, allowing future generations to experience a piece of local history firsthand.

If you've attended one of North Brook's heritage events, you may have seen the schoolhouse come to life. Reenactors—many of whom are connected with Hart Square Village—use the building to teach students what school, work, and daily life looked like more than 100 years ago. For a few moments, students get to trade modern classrooms for a glimpse into the past.

Imagine fitting every grade level into one room, writing on slates instead of tablets, and having recess in a world without Wi-Fi. Suddenly, that forgotten Chromebook charger doesn't seem quite so bad.

The Fairview Schoolhouse stands as a reminder of how far education has come and the generations of Lincoln County students who helped build the community we know today.

Current Information for North Brook Elementary:

Enrollment: 350

Principal: Ms. Chelsea Seagle

Still Serving: Transportation Department

When students leave for summer break, Lincoln County Schools' buses don't get a vacation.

As part of our Still Serving summer series, we're highlighting the employees who continue working behind the scenes to prepare for another successful school year. Today, we're featuring the dedicated team in our Transportation Department.

On the last day of school, every bus not assigned to a summer school route is brought back to the transportation facility. Once summer school concludes, the remaining buses join them.

From there, the work begins.

Throughout the summer, transportation technicians complete preventative maintenance, run diagnostics, and conduct required 30-day inspections on every yellow and white bus in the fleet. Their work helps ensure each vehicle is safe, reliable, and ready to transport students when school resumes in August.

At the same time, a seasonal crew of 8–10 employees takes on the massive task of deep cleaning every bus. Using hot-water pressure washers and specialized degreasing solutions, they wash exteriors, then move inside to detail each vehicle from front to back.

Every bus is vacuumed. Every seat and window is cleaned. Interior roof trim moldings are scrubbed, and handrails are sanitized to help provide a clean, welcoming environment for students.

With more than 100 buses in the Lincoln County Schools fleet, preparing for a new school year takes weeks of hard work and attention to detail.

While school may be out, our Transportation Department is still serving—making sure thousands of students have a safe, clean ride on the first day back.

Summer learning is in full swing at Lincoln County School of Technology!

This week, students in the Healthcare Heroes camp rolled up their sleeves for hands-on learning, including frog dissections that gave them a closer look at anatomy and careers in the medical field.

Meanwhile, aspiring designers in the Fashion Design camp put their creativity to work, learning to use sewing machines and creating their own original dress designs using tissue paper and toilet paper.

From exploring future careers to building new skills and confidence, our Career Camps are helping students discover what’s possible while having fun along the way.

Day 2 of Administrator Academy brought even more leaders together as we continued preparing for the 2026-2027 school year.

Building on yesterday’s goal-setting work, school administrators and teacher leaders focused on how to bring our district’s Strategic Plan to life within their schools. Teams engaged in discussions around shared understandings, strengthening Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and creating effective communication systems that support students, staff, and families.

When leaders come together to learn, collaborate, and align their efforts, the result is a stronger foundation for success in every classroom. We appreciate the dedication of our leadership teams as they invest in the work that will impact students across Lincoln County Schools in the year ahead.

Today marked Day 1 of our Administrator Academy as school leadership teams from across Lincoln County Schools came together to begin planning for the 2026-2027 school year.

Teams of administrators and teacher leaders spent the day identifying academic, cultural, and leadership goals for the year ahead, developing lead measures, and creating action steps to turn vision into reality. Through collaboration, reflection, and strategic planning, each team focused on what it will take to support student success and strengthen their school communities.

The work that happens during the summer lays the foundation for the year ahead, and we are excited to see the goals, ideas, and plans that will shape learning across Lincoln County Schools in 2026-2027.
