Lincolnton FD receives $120K grant from The Timken Foundation!!

At the First Responder Appreciation Luncheon, Timken representatives presented the Lincolnton Fire Department with a $120,377 grant from the Timken foundation. The funds will purchase specialized rescue tools and equipment to outfit two emergency apparatus vehicles, enhancing the department's ability to perform technical rescues and respond safely and effectively to complex incidents.

We are extremely grateful to the Timken Foundation for this vital support. This grant will have a lasting impact on our department’s readiness, safety, and service to the community, helping us continue our mission of providing “a high level of fire and life safety protection.”

🔥 Structure Fire 🔥

On August 10th, around 10:00 PM, Lincoln County Communications received a report of a structure fire in the 1900 block of Smith Farm Rd. Battalion 1, Ladder 1, Engines 4 and 2, Squad 4, and Howard's Creek Fire Department were automatically dispatched.

Battalion 1 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire on the backside of the residence. Engine 4 immediately began fire suppression efforts, while Ladder 1 began searching for any potential victims. Thankfully, no victims were found inside, and the homeowner and pets were safely outside of the residence.

Due to the lack of nearby fire hydrants, Engine 2 and Squad 4 created a water supply operation and South Fork Fire Department was requested for a tanker to provide additional water.

Crews achieved control of the fire within 40 minutes after confirming that the fire had not extended further into the residence.
No injuries were reported.

🚒 Attention Food Truck Owners & Food Vendors! 🚒

The City Fire Marshal's Office now requires an annual permit and fire safety inspection for all food trucks and mobile food vendors.

Why is this important?
The most common causes of fires in food trucks include:
• Malfunctioning electrical systems
• Grease buildup
• Improper use of cooking equipment
• Hazards associated with liquefied petroleum gas (propane)

These incidents are preventable, and we aim to prevent fires and injuries before they happen.

We believe in being proactive—not reactive. By conducting annual inspections, we work alongside food truck owners and operators to identify and correct potential fire hazards before they become emergencies.

These inspections also provide an opportunity to educate vendors on fire and life safety best practices, helping protect your business, your employees, your customers, and everyone who visits our community.

Together, we can create a safer environment for our citizens, visitors, and the entire food truck community.

🔥 Structure Fire 🔥

On August 5th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Lincoln County Communications received a report of a structure fire in the 800 block of N. Flint St. Battalion 1, Ladder 1, Engines 4 and 2, Squad 4, and North 321 Fire Department were automatically dispatched.
Engine 4 arrived on scene and reported light smoke showing from the exterior of the residence. Ladder 1 arrived shortly after and immediately began rescue operations after receiving reports of a resident with limited mobility still inside the home. With the assistance of a family member, crews safely brought the resident outside within three minutes, away from the thick smoke that had filled the house.

Squad 4 and Engine 2 assisted with the search and confirmed that no other occupants were inside the residence. The residents were evaluated by Lincoln County Emergency Services (EMS) for smoke inhalation.

Engine 4 located the source of the fire and brought it under control within minutes. Overhaul operations then began. No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents.

🔥 Mutual Aid - Structure Fire 🚒

July 31st, around 10:24 AM, Lincoln County Communications dispatched LFD to assist with a reported commercial structure fire at Riverbend Creamery.
Battalion 1, Engine 4 and Ladder 1 responded and assisted North 321 Fire Department. Smoke was found inside the business, and our crews assisted with investigating the cause and helped confirm there was no further extension of the fire or any remaining hazards. Crews also assisted with ventilating the building. No injuries were reported.

We’re happy to share that Riverbend Creamery has reopened for business! We encourage our community to stop by and support this great local business.

On July 30th, we held a badge-pinning ceremony for our newest firefighters. With their families, they received the badges they will wear with pride, symbolizing their commitment to protecting our community in fire protection and providing life safety.

Cleveland County Mourns the Loss of Paramedic/Field Training Officer Ashley Moore

Shelby, North Carolina — It is with sincere regret and heavy hearts that Cleveland County announces the Line of Duty death of Ms. Ashley Moore, Paramedic/Field Training Officer who was killed in the Line of Duty as the result of a traffic collision in Gaston County, North Carolina on Monday, July 6th, 2026.

Ms. Ashley Moore, Paramedic/Field Training Officer served with Cleveland County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for nine (9) years. She exemplified the highest standards of the EMS profession and dedication to our community.

“Our entire Cleveland County team is grieving the loss of one of our own," said Thomas McNeilly, Emergency Medical Services Director.

"Our immediate priority is supporting Ashley’s family and our first responders during this tragedy. We ask the public to keep their families and our EMS staff in their prayers," stated David B. Cotton, County Manager.

Out of respect for the family’s privacy, no further information or details will be released at this time. An official update regarding memorial services will be provided in the coming days.

🚒Lincolnton FD responds to multiple severe weather incidents⛈️

On July 6th around 4:00PM, the Lincolnton Fire Department responded to multiple incidents involving trees and power lines downed by severe weather, including a tree that had fallen onto a house.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of these incidents. The Lincoln County Building Inspector was contacted to assess the damage to the affected residence. The American Red Cross was contacted with assisting the homeowner with relocating.

We also want to thank our partners in the City Street and Electric Department, who worked tirelessly to restore access to roadways and safely return power to the community in a timely manner.
