Yesterday afternoon, we received reports of Olympic-caliber athletes running through Lincolnwood… but after further investigation, it turns out it was just the incredible participants of the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics! 🏃‍♂️🔥

On June 7, the torch traveled approximately 38 miles from Bartlett, through Skokie, and into Lincolnwood as part of the statewide relay supporting Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

The Lincolnwood and Skokie Police Departments proudly accepted the torch from the Morton Grove Police Department at Lincoln Avenue and Gross Point Road before carrying it to the finish line at the Lincolnwood Police Department.

A special thank you to the Skokie Police Department for helping carry the torch into Lincolnwood and finishing strong with us. The teamwork, energy, and support on display were a great reminder of what this event is all about.

Thank you to all of the runners, volunteers, supporters, and community members who cheered along the route. Your encouragement helped keep the torch—and the spirit of the event—moving forward.

Check out the below press release regarding our Memorial Day 2026 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign which aimed at keeping roads safe during one of the busiest travel periods of the year.
A total of 16 citations were issued for a range of offenses ranging from seatbelt usage to driving under the influence.

The “Click It or Ticket” initiative is funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation. For more information on safe driving practices, visit ItsNotaGameIllinois.com.
