The Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2026 ATHENA® Leadership Award and ATHENA® Young Professional Leadership Award. While hosted by the Chamber, these awards welcome nominations from across New Jersey and recognize women whose leadership, professional excellence, community service, and commitment to mentoring others create a lasting impact.

As a proud ATHENA finalist, I have seen firsthand how meaningful this recognition can be. The ATHENA Awards celebrate women who not only achieve success in their own careers but also dedicate themselves to helping others succeed.

The ATHENA® Leadership Award honors established leaders, while the ATHENA® Young Professional Leadership Award recognizes emerging leaders ages 24-40 who are already making significant contributions in their professions and communities.

I encourage you to take a moment and think about the remarkable women across New Jersey who inspire, lead, innovate, and lift others as they climb. Their stories deserve to be recognized.

This Women’s History Month, Monmouth Ocean Small Business Development Center celebrates trailblazing entrepreneur Madam C. J. Walker, whose business expanded to the NY tri-state area and helped shape the beauty industry to look how it does today.

Born to formerly enslaved parents, Walker built a groundbreaking haircare company that empowered thousands of Black women to become entrepreneurs themselves, truly encapsulating women supporting other women to find success within their own power.
Her success made her widely recognized as America’s first self-made female millionaire.

Walker’s story is a powerful reminder that innovation, determination, and entrepreneurship can transform lives and create opportunity for entire communities.
