Today our patrol deputies took a call in reference to another scam going around falsely representing the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

This particular scammer called from a local phone number attempting to get in touch with our complaint. The call back number went to a voicemail setup identifying him as LT James Gilbert with the County Sheriff’s Office. Cass County Sheriff’s Office does not have a Lt. James Gilbert.

Please, do not return his phone call. If you have a similar phone call and are unsure if it is legitimate or not, contact our main line at 903-756-7511.

🚨Fraudulent Calls Claiming to be Cass County Sheriff’s Office 🚨

Our office has been made aware of scam phone calls from individuals claiming to be a deputy or a representatives from Cass County Sheriff’s Office. These callers have demand payment for supposed warrants, missed jury duty, fines, or other legal matters.

⭐️ PLEASE REMEMBER:

The Sheriff’s Office will NOT call you to demand immediate payment, request gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, Cash App, Venmo, Apple Pay, or ask for sensitive financial information over the phone.

Scammers often "spoof" phone numbers to make it appear the call is coming from a legitimate government agency. Even if the caller ID looks official, it may not be legitimate.

If you are unsure, contact us at 903-756-7511 before taking any action.
