Mayor Derek Armstead and employees of city hall gathered together to show solidarity and mark the start of ‘Wear Orange’ Weekend.

Every year communities nationwide come together for Wear Orange, a weekend dedicated to honoring the lives of people in the United States affected by gun violence and elevating advocates across the country who are demanding an end to gun violence by taking action.

From hundreds of local gatherings to city proclamation, Wear Orange is a highly visible, nonpartisan show of support for public safety that’s powered by constituents in every corner of the country.

To show solidarity this weekend, wear orange and support the fight against gun violence.

Opens: Monday, June 1st, 2026, at 9:00 AM.

Limit: Only 500 applications will be accepted.

Key Requirements:

You must be 18 or older to apply.

Strictly ONE application per household (duplicates will be rejected).

Preference is given to Union County residents, seniors, veterans, disabled individuals, working individuals, and domestic violence survivors. Remember to upload all supporting documents with your application.

To honor the solemn significance of this holiday, Mayor Derek Armstead has extended a long weekend so that our dedicated city employees can take their time remembering those lost in active duty.

This Memorial Day, we stand together as a community to honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives in service to our nation. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty. We remain grateful for their sacrifice and appreciate all those who have served our country. May you rest and live in peace.

Our seniors had a magnificent Monday afternoon celebrating Haitian Heritage Month! Representatives from , alongside the Mayor and First Lady of Linden, treated our elders to traditional Haitian lunch, libations, and educational cultural activities.

A massive thank you to Laurene Experience with and for bringing this beautiful experience to our Senior Center. We loved watching our seniors share their culture, connect with their neighbors, and learn something new!
