🚑❄️ COLD WEATHER SAFETY REMINDER ❄️🚑

With cold temperatures impacting our area, Ambulance Services of Lexington wants to remind everyone that cold-related emergencies can escalate quickly—and knowing what to look for can save lives.

🆘 Call 911 immediately if someone:
• Becomes confused or is difficult to wake
• Has chest pain or trouble breathing
• Stops shivering
• Does not respond when spoken to or touched

⏱️ Time is critical. Hypothermia and frostbite can become life-threatening faster than many people realize. If you’re unsure, it’s always better to call for help.

🧤 While waiting for emergency responders:
• Move the person indoors or to a warm, sheltered area
• Remove wet clothing and replace with dry, warm layers
• Cover with blankets or coats to help retain body heat
• Give warm, alcohol-free fluids if the person is awake and able to swallow

Please check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without adequate heat or shelter. A simple check-in can make a big difference.
