With the possibility of a Nor’easter this week, the Village of Lindenhurst is preparing for the potential impacts of flooding and high winds.

FLOODING

DPW has been and will continue clearing storm drains throughout the Village in preparation for the potential storm. While this work is intended to help with stormwater, residents should still take precautions, especially those in low-lying and waterfront areas.

• Village commuter parking lots will be available to residents from Friday afternoon through Sunday night for those who wish to move their vehicles to higher ground and protect them from potential flooding.
• If you live in an area prone to flooding, consider moving your vehicle and other belongings ahead of the storm.
• Never drive or walk through flooded roadways.

BOAT OWNERS

• Check and secure your mooring lines.
• Make sure bilge pumps are working properly.
• Secure loose equipment and items on your vessel.
• Make sure your boat is prepared for strong winds and rough conditions.

HIGH WINDS

Please secure or bring inside outdoor furniture, garbage cans, decorations and any other loose items that could become airborne.

Emergency: 911
Fire/Rescue: 631-226-1212

Three generations of Legislators of the 14th District, united by Save The Great South Bay! 🌊🦪

This weekend, Save The Great South Bay hosted their annual Oyster Ball - an elegant evening celebrating the Great South Bay. I was proud to join my predecessor, former Legislator and Presiding Officer Kevin J. McCaffrey; as well as his predecessor, former Legislator and Presiding Officer Wayne Horsley, at the event - where we exchanged stories and thoughts on the role that local government plays in protecting our greatest south shore resource.

I am proud to do my part as a member of our Working Waterfront and Environment, Parks, and Agriculture Committees. I also look forward to furthering environmental causes as my predecessors have - such as the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act implemented during Kevin’s term as Presiding Officer and sewer system funding and development spearheaded by Wayne.

Thank you, Save the Great South Bay, for all you do in working to protect our bay and for putting together a terrific evening celebrating our hardworking environmental stewards!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to join the Town of Babylon for an extra special ribbon cutting, as they dedicated the Field of Dreams in West Babylon to my predecessor, former Presiding Officer Kevin J. McCaffrey! 🎉

Kevin’s decades of service to our community are more than deserving of recognition, and choosing this field - adjacent to Van Bourgondien County Park - serves as a great reminder of the many parks improvement and other public works projects he worked to facilitate as a member of the Suffolk County Legislature.

Thank you, Kevin, for your years of leadership and wisdom, and congratulations on this great honor!

On the second to last day of my term, I handed out my final legislative proclamation to none other than Mrs. Diane Mitchell Brennan!

Diane was a member of my staff from the very beginning, but her ties to the Suffolk County Legislature run much further than that - as she retired at the end of 2025 with 20 years of dedicated service to the residents of Suffolk County.

A fixture of the community, Diane’s front-seat view to the Village from the glass windows of my office made her a local celebrity, complete with tremendous knowledge of all things Lindenhurst.

The special proclamation I presented to Diane was signed on to by all 18 members of the Legislature, a testament to her service.

Thank you, Diane, and congratulations on your retirement! 🎉

As I pack up 12 years of memories from my District Office in Lindenhurst I think of all the great people I have met and worked with. I believe I left the County and my Village in a better place than I found it.

Thank you to everyone for allowing me to be your voice as your Deputy Mayor, Legislator and Presiding Officer. Congratulations to Rj Renna who will do a great job as your new Legislator. I am looking forward to where the New Year takes me. Happy New Year!

On Saturday, I partnered with The Argyle Theatre at Babylon Village to showcase improvements to the facility made possible by Suffolk County JumpSMART funding!

Renovations to the historical theatre, which dates back to 1922, included an exterior facelift with new lighting, fresh paint, and a new marquee; as well as a new 19-foot mahogany bar, a new tin-inspired ceiling, upgraded lighting fixtures, an improved sound system, and upgrades to the production capabilities of the theatre.

Further, accessibility and the bones of the building received a refresh, with upgrades to the women’s restroom (which has doubled in size, adding four new stalls and sinks), a new roof, updated electrical wiring, improved insulation, concrete repairs, and the installation of brand-new HVAC units.

The allocations through the County’s capital program and Federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, designed to help small businesses and communities effectively recover from the pandemic.

Thank you Village of Babylon Mayor Mary E. Adams, Argyle Theatre Co-Owners Dr. Mark Perlman and Dylan Perlman, Argyle Theatre Director of Operations Dan Ostrander and all of the matinee guests who shared in the excitement with us! And a special thanks to Mayor Adams and the Theatre for presenting me tokens of their appreciation!
