FWA had the pleasure of welcoming Samantha Barncastle, Executive Director of the Family Farm Alliance, for a day of tours and meaningful conversations.

Samantha had the opportunity to see Friant Dam, the Friant-Kern Canal, the Middle Reach Capacity Correction Project, and visit Tulare Irrigation District to learn more about their operations. Along the way, we enjoyed hearing Samantha’s story, her goals, and her vision for the future of Western water.

Thank you, Samantha, for spending the day with us!

Where storage meets supply.

Millerton Lake and Friant Dam play an essential role in managing water for the San Joaquin Valley. What’s stored here helps support farms, communities, and the people who call the Valley home.

A view that puts the importance of California water into perspective.

Heading to the lake this weekend? Help keep California’s waterways protected from invasive golden mussels.

Golden mussels have already been detected in several California water bodies, and they can spread when boats, trailers, and equipment move from one waterway to another.

Before leaving the lake, and before entering another, remember: Clean. Drain. Dry.

A few extra minutes can help protect our lakes, rivers, canals, and critical water infrastructure.
