Clarification Regarding McPherson County Property Tax Notice:

The City of Lindsborg has received questions regarding the McPherson County Notice of Proposed Property Tax Increase and Public Hearing, which lists the City's proposed 2027 property tax levy as 0.000 mills.

To clarify, the City is not proposing a 0.000 mill levy. The City's Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) for 2027 is 53.325 mills, and the City is currently proposing a mill levy of 48.977 mills. Because the proposed levy is below the Revenue Neutral Rate, Kansas law does not require the City to hold a Revenue Neutral Rate hearing.

The 2027 budget is still being developed and will continue to be reviewed through the City's normal public budget process. The City Council will hold its annual Budget Hearing on September 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, where the proposed budget will be presented for public review and consideration.

We appreciate residents' questions and remain committed to providing accurate information throughout the budget process. Residents with questions are encouraged to contact City Hall for additional information.

Mayor Clark Shultz joined Bethany College President Dr. Laura Crawley in welcoming Bethany College faculty and staff for the new academic year, extending greetings on behalf of the City of Lindsborg. The annual gathering, sponsored by Ad Hoc and held at the American Legion, celebrated the start of a new year and the important role Bethany College plays in our community. We are proud of our partnership with Bethany College and wish its students, faculty, and staff a successful and rewarding year ahead.
