In July 2024, we launched an initiative to ensure our department has better-trained responders who are ready to serve our community at the highest level. As part of this initiative, we developed a training plan to send two firefighters per year through the Ranger College EMT Academy, with the hope to send more if funding allows.
This training is no small feat. Our responders dedicate at least one evening per week for 20 weeks in a classroom, along with countless hours of self-paced bookwork, ambulance rotations, and more—all while balancing their full-time jobs and family responsibilities. And the best part? They do it all for free, because they’re committed to bettering our community and being there when you need them most.
Tonight, we're proud to announce that Assistant Chief Jason Wilson and Firefighter Memphis Bays have officially graduated from the Ranger College EMT Academy! 🏅 Their dedication, hard work, and sacrifice will bring invaluable knowledge and expertise back to our department, further enhancing the level of care we provide to our neighbors.
We can’t thank them enough for their commitment to our community and look forward to seeing the impact they’ll have in our future response efforts.
This is just one part of an ongoing push to ensure our department is always improving and ready to respond. We’re grateful for their efforts and the support of our community as we continue to build a stronger, more capable team.
