This week, we proudly recognize and honor the dedicated men and women of our Correctional Division during Correctional Officer Week.
Correctional Officer Week was established in 1984, when President Ronald Reagan officially proclaimed the first national observance to recognize the essential role correctional professionals play in our criminal justice system. Since then, this week has served as an important reminder of the hard work and dedication of those who serve behind the walls.
Our correctional staff play a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and integrity of our facility. Their work often goes unseen, but it is essential to the daily operations of our office and the protection of our community. They demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and unwavering commitment in a challenging environment every single day.
From managing inmate welfare to ensuring order within the facility, their responsibilities are both demanding and critical. We are grateful for their service, their sacrifice, and their dedication to upholding the law.
Please join us in thanking our Correctional Officers for the important work they do. Your commitment does not go unnoticed.

Today, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office was honored to participate in a docu-drama exercise alongside the Chamois Fire Department, Osage Ambulance District, and the outstanding Senior High students from Chamois High School.
These types of training events are invaluable in preparing our first responders and young people for real-life emergency situations through teamwork, communication, and public safety awareness.
We appreciate the dedication and professionalism shown by everyone involved. A special thank you to the students for taking part and helping make this training a success. The future is bright with young people willing to learn, serve, and step up for their community.
Working together, we continue building stronger partnerships and a safer Osage County.

We were honored to welcome Author Todd Burpo to Osage County this week as a special guest of Sheriff Bonham!
Todd, best known as the author of Heaven is for Real, now serves as a Chaplain and Reserve Deputy in Eagle County, Colorado. During his visit, he spent time exploring Osage County and connecting with our incredible community. From visiting local shops to stopping by the County Annex, Todd had the chance to meet with local officials and engage with the citizens who make this county such a special place.
He wrapped up his visit with a guided tour of the Sheriff’s Office and the historic courthouse, where he learned more about the work being done every day to serve and protect our community.
Throughout the day, Todd shared stories from his journey offering encouragement, faith, and perspective that resonated deeply with everyone he met. His visit was not only an opportunity to showcase Osage County, but also a meaningful reminder of the power of community, service, and connection.
Thank you, Todd, for taking the time to visit and for the inspiration you brought with you. You’re always welcome back in Osage County!

“Just a Little Over the Limit…”
We’re not sure if this rider thought he was qualifying for Daytona 500… but Osage County roads are not a racetrack.
127 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.
Let that sink in.
At that speed, you’re not just “running late”—you’re running out of time to react, out of space to stop, and putting every family on that roadway at serious risk.
We get it motorcycles are powerful, fast, and fun. But there’s a big difference between enjoying the ride and turning it into a life-or-death gamble.
Here’s the serious part:
Speed like this turns minor mistakes into major tragedies
Reaction time is nearly cut in half
The outcome of a crash at that speed is rarely survivable
We’d much rather meet you at a community event than at a crash scene.
Slow it down.
Ride smart.
And remember getting there safely is always better than not getting there at all.

🚨 Scam Alert: Fake Speeding Ticket Texts 🚨

Have you gotten a text saying you owe money for a speeding ticket? Be careful — it's a scam.

Scammers are sending messages that look official, claiming you have an unpaid traffic ticket and must pay immediately to avoid penalties. These texts often include a link to “pay now.”

⚠️ Red flags to watch for:

Unexpected texts about tickets you didn’t know about
Urgent language like “pay immediately” or “final notice”
Suspicious links or unfamiliar websites
Requests for personal or payment information

✅ What to do instead:

Do NOT click any links in the message
Do NOT send money or share personal info
Verify directly with your local court or DMV using official contact info
Report the message as spam and delete it

Stay alert and help spread the word — sharing this could protect someone from losing money.
