Railroad Days and the celebration of the 50th Annual Great Pershing Balloon Derby. It is a pleasure to support the communities throughout Linn County and work alongside our local agencies.

MISSING PERSON

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate Zachary Cannon, who was last seen on 8-25-2026, by a family member at approximately 8:30 p.m. (2030 hours) in the area of 1301 Pine Street, Laclede, Mo.

Zachary was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, a dark blue ball cap, and brown boots.

Family members report that Zachary may be experiencing a mental health crisis and is extremely paranoid.

If you have seen Zachary or have any information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the Linn County Sheriff’s Office immediately.

A Word from the Office

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to welcome Deputy Christopher Murray(Jinx) as our new full-time courthouse deputy. We are also excited to add a new patrol vehicle to our fleet. A special thank-you to Nathan Stufflebean at Shop Show-Me for his assistance with marking and lettering the vehicle.

We are excited to return to our schools soon, to build positive relationships with our students, encourage them to make good choices, and begin another year of the D.A.R.E. program.

Today we celebrated the retirement of Ed Melte after his dedicated years of service with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. As our Court Security Officer, Ed has been a valued member of our team, and his dedication, professionalism, and friendship will truly be missed in the days ahead.

We wish Ed all the best as he begins this well-deserved new chapter of retirement. Thank you for your service and commitment to our department and the citizens of Linn County. Enjoy your retirement!

Today 6/13/2026, It was a privilege to be invited to speak and participate in the Minnie Mae Talbott Historical Event in Lexington, Missouri, honoring Minnie Mae’s historic achievement as the first woman elected sheriff in the United States, serving Lafayette County in 1919.

I was also honored to share this experience with the Lafayette County Sheriff Aaron Dye and his staff. I extend my gratitude to all involved for preserving this significant historical milestone.

*Linn County Animal Shelter*

It has been brought to our attention by the manager of the Linn County Animal Shelter that individuals have been leaving dogs at the shelter after hours.

If you need to surrender an animal after business hours, please use the contact phone number provided at the shelter so proper arrangements can be made. For the safety and well-being of the animals, please do not tie them up in a manner that prevents them from moving freely or accessing shelter, food, or water.

If this issue continues, please be advised that the shelter is equipped with cameras, and staff may contact those responsible regarding the incident.

Thank you for your cooperation and ensure the safety of these animals.

The Brookfield Police Department has officially moved from City Hall and is now located at the Burris Center, 1 Center Drive, Brookfield, MO 64628.

When you arrive, please use the call button located on the right side of the front entrance door. This button connects directly to Linn County Central Dispatch, which is how you will speak with an officer or request assistance.
