We are very sorry with the credit/debit card issue! Unfortunately they don't have any answers yet. If you could please help spread the word that we still can not run any cards in office, we would truly appreciate it!

Unfortunately we just got an email stating the credit card terminal issue is on their side and not ours, and they hope to get it back running next week. SO WE ARE STILL NOT ABLE TO TAKE DEBIT OR CREDIT CARDS IN THE OFFICE. You may go online to pay(which takes 48 hours to provide you with a paid receipt. Or bring cash, money order or check to pay in the office.

Also just a reminder about postmarks from USPS, it usually takes at least 2 days from when you put your mail in your mailbox for it to be postmarked. Also, the collectors office not receiving your mailed tax payments is USPS error, not the Collectors Office, penalties will still be applied.

The Linn County Courthouse will be closed Friday, May 8th in observance of Truman Day!

Message from the Linn County Commission:
The April 8th General Election resulted in the passing of the county-wide Question (Senate Bill 3). This question effectively caps the property tax on a personal primary residence at 5% or cost-of-living increase, whichever is higher in any one year.

Normally property tax increases are less than 5% in any given year, so the effect of this is not expected to be large, but does offer some protection on your primary residence taxation. The state legislature mandated this proposition be placed on the ballot, but it is being challenged in court for its constitutionality. All taxing entities in the county, such as schools, fire, ambulance and senior services as well as the county revenue, will be affected.

The County Question will not go into effect until the legal issue is resolved. We will stay in touch as the implementation and mechanics of this proposal are yet to be determined. We are available for your questions and further information will be forthcoming.
