Emmons County ALS Ambulance

Emmons County ALS Ambulance The Emmons County ALS Ambulance service is based in Linton, North Dakota. The Emmons County ALS Ambulance was established in 1970. Advanced Airway equipment.

Our response area is 1500 square miles and and an approximate population of 4500 people. We serve the cities of Braddock, Hague, Hazelton, Hull, Linton, Strasburg, and Westfield. The first ambulance was a 1970 suburban with ambulance package. The service replaced the 1970 suburban with a 1978 E350 Type II Collins ambulance. This ambulance remained in service until 1991 when a E350 Type II Collins

ambulance was purchased. The service then kept both ambulances in service. In 1998 we purchased a 1998 E350 Type III Braun and sold the 1978 ambulance. In 2003 we purchased a E450 Ford Type III McCoy Miller ambulance and sold off the 1991Type II. In 2007 we remounted the 1998 Braun onto a 2007 Chevy Kodiak C4500 chassis. The service has evolved over the years and in 1994 became a licensed advanced life support ambulance service. We provide a minimum of one paramedic and one EMT on every ambulance run. We average approximately 300 calls per year. Of those 300 calls, an average of 100 calls are transfers to either MedCenter One or St. Alexius Hospitals in Bismarck, ND. The rest of the calls are made up of 911 emergencies, standbys, refusals and transfers to other hospitals. The service has added numerous pieces of equipment so that we can provide the best care possible to our patients. We currently have:
Life Pak 12 Cardiac Monitors with End Tidal Co2 monitoring and 12 lead EKG capabilities. Auto Vent 3000 - Adult and Pediatric capabilities. EZ IO units - for adult and pediatric. Triple Channel IV Baxter IV Pumps. Stryker Power Pro Cots. Rapid Sequence Intubation

The service is one of the most advanced services in North Dakota and has very liberal standing orders. In 1999 we were the first service in the state of North Dakota to have lap top computers in each of our ambulances. These lap tops allowed us to do our run reports electronically, but more importantly we have GPS mapping to provide us exact directions to get to our patient's home quickly. The mapping program is the same program that North Dakota State Radio uses when dispatching and giving directions to patients locations. We work closely with the Hazelton First Responders and the Strasburg Quick Response Unit. We also work with the Linton and Zeeland Fire Departments which provides extrication and rescue services throughout Emmons County.
