Just after 1030 this morning, Company 39 was dispatched to Upper Chichester Township for a house fire.
Units arrived to find fire showing from a 2-story end-of-row home. Deputy 10 requested an additional alarm on arrival. Rescue 39 stretched a backup line off Engine 10 (acting as the 2nd due engine).
Crews operated for approximately 3 hours assisting with fire suppression and overhaul.
Congratulations to Firefighter Amie King on successfully completing her probationary period and earning her numbers today!

On Saturday the company along with Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Department traveled to the West Chester Fire Training Facility and participated in several live fire evolutions to hone in on the Engine Company operations for both companies. Crews operated as 1st and 2nd due engines and performed the pre-assigned arrival assignments. We would like to thank the Claymont Fire Company and Upper Chichester Fire Department for providing coverage of our 1st due while we were training.

Today around 12:30 Rescue39 made the response to assist on a reported building fire in the Bellefonte section of New Castle County. First arriving units went on location with fire showing and confirmed a working fire. Crews experienced extreme hoarding conditions. R-39 was assigned to be the RIT team on arrival. Once the fire was placed under control by Chief 11-8(Edwards) R-39’s crew was utilized for overhaul and assist the fire marshal’s office. Once cleared from the scene R-39 transferred to station 11 to cover while the 11 units were still on scene. Photo credit to Minquadale Fire Company Sta.22

Last evening just prior to 9pm the company and surrounding mutual aid were dispatched to the 1500 block of Blueball Ave. (FedEx) for the reported building fire. Engine and Assistant 39 made the response and arrived at the dispatched address with nothing evident. Members then saw fire from a structure through a wooded area across the street from FedEx, at the New Hudson Fascade property (815 Columbia Ave.) The working fire dispatch was requested. As Assistant 39 was arriving there were multiple explosions witnessed from the structure. Assistant 39 established command and worked to get everyone in place for a defensive attack. The structure was a detached stand alone structure in the rear of the business. Crews operated for a few hours to get the situation under control. No damage was reported to the main building of the business. The fire is under investigation from the Lower Chi Fire Marshal’s office FM-88(Daily) No injuries reported.
Thank you to all our mutual aide companies assisting and also the companies who filled in for a regional cover-up. Some photo credits to Tappan Firephotos and others.
