We would like to congratulate our very own Diana Tatgenhorst! Diana was awarded EMT of The Year! Thank you for your dedication to the West Point Fire Department and everything you do for the community!
Congratulations to Diana Tatgenhorst, our 2026 Mahoning Valley EMS Awards EMT of the Year!
For Diana, EMS started with a simple goal: doing more for the community she lives in.
After joining West Point Fire Department, she pursued her education through West Point Fire and EMS Academy and built a career centered around service, compassion, and showing up for others during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Now serving as Assistant EMS Chief and EMT-B with West Point Fire and EMS, Diana has spent the last five years becoming someone her patients, coworkers, and community know they can rely on.
Her nomination spoke to her professionalism, patient advocacy, and ability to lead under pressure. One nomination described her response to a recent school bus crash, where she immediately focused on assessing students, coordinating communication, and recognizing when rapid transport to a higher level of care was needed for a critically injured patient. Her ability to remain calm, organized, and compassionate left a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Those who nominated Diana consistently described someone who creates a positive environment for her crew, leads with professionalism, and never loses sight of the people behind the call. She is known for stepping up, supporting those around her, and making those she serves feel heard and cared for.
Diana shared that the true reward of EMS is the teamwork and the opportunity to deliver compassionate care during critical moments, and her passion shows through the impact she has made over the last five years.
Outside of EMS, Diana enjoys spending time with her family… and with her cows!
Congratulations, Diana! Thank you for your dedication to West Point Fire and EMS and for representing the very best of Mahoning Valley EMS.
