This is only an exercise — repeat, only an exercise.

This week (5/18–5/20), the Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency (CCEMA) will be conducting dry-run exercises at several locations in preparation for the upcoming BVPS federally evaluated drill in June.
Exercise locations this week include:

United Local School District
Middleton Township Fire Department in Negley
Beaver Local Sports Complex

Participating agencies and organizations include local fire departments, amateur radio groups, the American Red Cross, the Columbiana County Health District, and the Community Emergency Response Team (CC CERT).

We sincerely appreciate these facilities for the use of their locations and thank all participating agencies and volunteers for their continued efforts to help keep Columbiana County safe.

A key part of hurricane preparedness is understanding the dangers that remain well after a storm. This is NOT the time to put your guard down. Nearly half of hurricane fatalities occur after the storm.

Saturday, May 9 — Take Action Today
Are you ready for hurricane season? Take action TODAY to be better prepared for when the worst happens. Understand your risk from hurricanes, and begin pre-season preparations now. Make sure you understand how to interpret forecasts and alerts, and know what to do before, during, and after a storm. Even if you feel ready, there may be additional things you could do or learn.

Impacts from wind and water can be felt hundreds of miles inland, and significant impacts can occur regardless of the storm’s strength.
