The funds raised for the Sutliff Bridge Authority go towards our Sutliff Bridge Authority Scholarship Fund. We offer a scholarship to local school districts of Lisbon, Solon, West Branch, Tipton, North Cedar, and Mt. We also set aside funds to provide support for maintenance and beautification of the Sutliff Bridge, Cedar River Access, and the surrounding park area. Providing for the assurance of future needs to maintain the Sutliff Bridge.

Dean Milo Moel passed away on February 5,2025 in Lisbon after many years of living in Solon.   Visitation will be February 13 from 4-7pm and funeral on February 14th at 1:00pm, both held in the Chapel of Memories, Cedar Memorial Park. A livestream of the funeral service ....

It’s with great sadness that we share the passing of Dean Moel, lifetime resident of the Sutliff village. Dean just recently celebrated his 99th birthday.

If you were a frequent visitor here, you’ve probably crossed paths with him. He liked to fish off the bridge or you could’ve had a conversation over a beer at the bar.

Dean served during WWII and was a survivor of the USS Gambier Bay es**rt carrier. It was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in the Battle off Samar. He was a true hero in our eyes and his charm, smile, and loving character will be sorely missed.

We love you Grandpa Dean.

Our Story

The funds provide support for maintenance and beautification of the Sutliff Bridge, Cedar River Access, and the surrounding park area. The funds also provide assurance for future support to maintain the Sutliff Bridge.

In 2015, we started the Sutliff Bridge Authority Scholarship Fund and have given out $11,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors from our neighboring communities - Lisbon, Mt Vernon, North Cedar, Tipton, West Branch, and Solon schools. Proceeds from our fundraisers are now supporting the Scholarship Fund as well as your donations.
