Spring Load Restrictions in Meeker County will begin on Tuesday, March 3rd. During the restriction period all paved routes are legal up to 10 tons per axle unless posted otherwise. All gravel routes are legal up to 5 tons per axle unless posted otherwise.

The purpose of Spring Load Restrictions is to protect roadbeds and pavements during spring thaw conditions when road strength and support is weakened while frost comes out and subgrades are saturated. These limits serve to protect roadways while they are vulnerable in an effort to extend roadway life and delay costly repairs.

Meeker County's contractor plans to begin the replacement of the CSAH 34 bridge over the North Fork of the Crow river on Monday, February 16th. The crossing is located approximately 3 miles north of Litchfield.

The crossing will close on February 16th as the initial stages of the project will include the removal of the existing bridge. The official detour will utilize Trunk Highway 22. Please review the detour map and plan an alternate route starting Monday.

The Truth in Taxation Statements that were recently mailed to all landowners in Meeker County incorrectly stated the date of the County's Truth in Taxation meeting. The County's meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 as part of the regular County Board meeting. Corrected notices are being mailed to taxpayers.

The County's Truth in Taxation meeting will be streamed and available for later viewing on YouTube.

Get ready to use your winter driving skills. Current forecasts are predicting 3" - 6" of snow for our area with dropping temperatures and heavy winds. We are currently expecting roads to get slippery this afternoon or evening with accumulating and blowing snow.

Remember to give yourself extra time and extra space when driving. Make sure your lights are on and cruise control is off.

CSAH 2/Central Ave at the Canadian Pacific Railroad crossing in the City of Watkins will be closed temporarily while Canadian Pacific works to replace the railway crossing surface. The work is scheduled to begin the morning of August 4th and is expected to be complete August 8th. No official detour will be posted during the closure and drivers are asked to find an alternate route.

CSAH 14 in the City of Darwin is scheduled for a short-term closure to replace the Railroad crossing near the US HWY 12 intersection. The road is currently expected to be closed the morning of June 4th and should reopen late in the day on June 5th or early on June 6th.

Please plan to use an alternate route while the project is underway as the Railroad crossing will be impassable during this time. Of course, the work schedule is weather dependent.

The CSAH 26 bridge south of Cedar Mills over the South Fork of the Crow River is being closed due to advanced deterioration of some of the bridge structural members. Drivers will need to find an alternate route. This closure is expected to be long-term until the bridge can be replaced.

ASTECH Corp is scheduled to begin seal coat/chip seal operations on portions of CSAH 34 & CSAH 2 on Monday, May 19th. The road will remain open, but drivers should expect to encounter delays through the work zone and loose rock during the project.

Knife River Construction plans to start a pavement replacement project on CSAH 12 in southern Meeker County Tuesday, May 20th. Initial phases of the project will include milling of the existing pavement and reclaiming the remaining material. The reclaimed aggregate material will then be laid out and new pavement will be installed.

The road will remain passable during construction but drivers are strongly encouraged to utilize an alternate route if possible. A low traffic work zone helps the contractor complete their work more efficiently. The project is expected to last 1 - 2 months.
