Yesterday, Troop L welcomed three new Trooper Trainees to our ranks! These Troopers graduated last Thursday as members of the 138th Training Troop. Now, they will begin a 45-day field training period under the guidance of experienced field training officers.

Over the past 7 months, the Trainees spent countless hours in the classroom, engaging in demanding physical training, learning emergency vehicle operations and practicing at the range, preparing to be the best Troopers to serve our state.

Congratulations! We wish each of them a safe and fulfilling career with the CT State Police!

Last week, on behalf of the Girl Scouts of Connecticut, Christine Hoffman dropped off a generous donation of Girl Scout cookies to Troop L. These will surely be enjoyed by all and we are grateful for their thoughtfulness!

The Cookies for Heroes program supports local Girl Scouts alongside active duty service members, veterans, and local heroes.

On 6/4/26 in the early evening hours, Tpr DeFeo and K9 Nala along with Tpr Houle and K9 Onyx were requested to assist Bristol PD to search for suspects who fled on foot from a stolen motor vehicle in the area of Muzzy St. Tpr Houle conducted a track with K9 Onyx for about 1/2 mile, located a potential suspect, but did not have enough evidence to arrest him. On the walk back to his vehicle, Bristol PD along with Tpr Houle started a foot pursuit with another suspect, but the suspect was able to elude police and was not located. Tpr DeFeo and K9 Nala arrived to the area shortly after. K9 Nala tracked about 200 yards in the area of Divinity St and Tulip St, and located the suspect who was hiding wedged between two fences in a backyard under some brush. During the investigation, a firearm loaded with armor piercing ammunition was located in the vehicle. K9’s Nala and Onyx provided crucial support to ensure the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect was placed under arrest for the following charges by Bristol PD:

-CGS 53-202l - Carrying a Firearm Loaded with Armor-Piercing Ammunition
-CGS 29-38 - Criminal Possession of a Firearm

Troopers from Troop L, Western District Major Crime, cadets and support staff ran the Special Olympics Torch Run yesterday morning. Our run commenced at Troop L and continued along Route 202 for 5 miles, where we passed the torch off to Torrington PD at the city line. Along the way, we stopped at the Litchfield Center School and said hi to all of the students and teachers who lined the driveway to cheer us on. We appreciate all of the support to help the Special Olympics continue its mission.
