Governor Walz is shutting down an entire industry on the Iron Range just months before leaving office. Leader Harry Niska responds:

"Removing any opportunity for these mining projects to even start through Minnesota’s incredibly rigorous environmental review and permitting process is short-sighted and will damage the fragile economy in Northern Minnesota. Iron Rangers deserve better."

We have talked a lot about fraud and waste in Minnesota, but stories like this show why the conversation cannot stop.

A new MPR investigation found that companies linked to a Liberian government official received $36 million in Minnesota taxpayer funding for group homes over the past decade, even as there were repeated findings of neglect.

This raises a basic question: how many warning signs does the state need before action is taken?

Minnesota needs a stronger culture of oversight where problems are investigated early, bad actors are held accountable, and taxpayer dollars are protected.

I have several colleagues from the Iron Range, and through working with them, I have gotten a better understanding of just how important mining is to their communities. It is not something that can be separated from the economy and daily life in northern Minnesota.

That is why I am concerned about Governor Walz's executive order restricting mining activity in northern Minnesota.

Minnesota has a long history of mining and some of the most advanced environmental standards and permitting processes in the country. Responsible mining is not about choosing jobs over the environment. Our state has the technology, regulations, and environmental review process to do both.

That process exists for a reason. Mining projects should be evaluated based on the science and their individual merits, not ruled out before the review process can even happen.

I will continue to support the Iron Range communities and the responsible development of Minnesota's natural resources. We should be able to protect our environment while also supporting the workers, families, and communities that depend on mining.

Enjoyed visiting with Lisa Demuth at the Minnesota Association of Townships meeting recently. She's going to make a GREAT governor of Minnesota! Nice to visit with my friend, Paul Anderson, too! Great friends and allies, fighting for Greater Minnesota!

How does the milk get from the farm to the processing facility to the shelves at the grocery store? 🥛

By a milk truck--- WHICH wouldn't be possible without those who drive the trucks, MILKMEN!
Today, August 12th, we honor those who safely deliver the milk cows produce to the processing facility! Milk truck drivers work to efficiently get milk to the processing facilities in about 2-3 days! After delivery, it takes about 12-24 hours for fluid milk to get to store shelves from the processing facilities!

Take the time today to thank a milk truck driver AND enjoy a refreshing dairy product!🍦🧀
