This morning, Probationary Firefighter Bishop spent time sharpening his skills on Driver/Engineer training. Developing proficiency behind the wheel and operating fire apparatus is a critical part of becoming a well-rounded firefighter and ensuring our community receives the highest level of service when emergencies occur.

Whether it’s responding to structure fires, vehicle accidents, technical rescues, or providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) EMS care, the members of Litchfield Professional Firefighters Local 3252 are committed to continuous training and professional development.

While Firefighter Bishop works to build his knowledge and experience, our members remain ready 24/7 to answer the call—whether it’s fire suppression, ALS EMS services, or any other emergency our community may face.

The 911 Emergency center became operational in October 1996. Almost 30 years later we still hear of people struggling to find numbers in phone books for the fire department, ambulance, or police department. Please, if you have an emergency and need one of these services just dial 911.

As far as us here at LFD, we are often out of the station on other calls, trainings, inspections, public relations and education, or other duties. If you call the station number in an emergency, no one will be here to answer. The consoles at 911 are staffed 24/7.

The Litchfield FD / MABAS 56 DiveTeam was involved in bringing this young man home to his family. A lot of professionals came together under brutal conditions to complete our mission.

This was a tremendous class and we look forward to having Jeff back in the future!

I’d like to thank the Litchfield Fire Department for inviting me to present a full day, blended single family and multi-family Building Comprehension class on Saturday. We also had a member from nearby Mount Olive FPD attend.
We had a great day of training and went through a lot of visual exterior building pattern recognition, situational and spatial awareness, common floor plans, identifying stairwell types and locations, a number of other building construction topics including a focus on balloon frame structures and rain roofs. We examined quite a few different single family home types and multi-family building types including some the most common houses, apartment buildings and townhouses found in the area. All throughout the class we discussed a lot regarding size up and making specific tactical decisions such as identifying correct ground ladder placement, prioritizing search areas, attack line lead outs, ventilation, etc.
Thanks to Captain David Rogers for reaching out and working with me to put the class together. I also want to thank Chief Adam Pennock and all of the FD members that came in for the class and for giving me the privilege of contributing this to your training program. Stay safe!

🎄❤️ Giving Back This Holiday Season ❤️🎄

The Litchfield Professional Firefighters Local 3252 were proud to partner with Operation ELF this holiday season to help support families in need right here in our community. Through this partnership, Local 3252 donated $1,000 and 35 hams to help ensure families could enjoy a warm and meaningful Christmas dinner.

Operation ELF, formed in 2019 and carrying on a tradition that has existed under various names for over 50 years, continues to make a powerful impact each year. In 2025 alone, the organization supported 35 families and 78 children, ranging from newborns to 12 years old. Thanks to generous community support, donations are collected through barrels placed at local businesses throughout town.
We are grateful to Operation ELF, our local businesses, and everyone who donates to help make the holidays brighter for so many.
