📣 WARD 4 ALDERPERSON OPENING

Before discussing the Ward 4 vacancy, I want to sincerely thank Alderperson Ray Kellenberger for his 13 years of dedicated service to the City of Litchfield.

Ray recently had to resign due to an unexpected medical issue. He will be greatly missed on the City Council. Ray has always had a genuine passion for Litchfield and played a major role in bringing our beautiful Litchfield Veterans Memorial at Carnegie Park to life. His years of service and contributions to our community have made a lasting impact.

Please join me in thanking Ray for his service and wishing him the very best.

Ray’s dedication is also a reminder that strong communities depend on residents who are willing to step forward and serve. We must now find the next person who cares deeply about Litchfield and is prepared to represent the residents of Ward 4.

The City of Litchfield has an opening for a Ward 4 Alderperson. As Mayor, I am required to submit a nominee to the City Council within 60 days of the vacancy. To make this process open and transparent, I am inviting interested Ward 4 residents to apply.

Applicants should email a résumé and brief biography to [email protected]. I plan to interview all qualified candidates before making my nomination to the City Council.

Before applying, please understand what the position involves:

The appointed Alderperson must run in the April 2027 Consolidated Election if they wish to remain in office.

You should expect calls, questions, concerns and complaints from residents.

Compensation is minimal at $200 per month.

Consistent attendance at City Council meetings is expected.

You will serve as a liaison to an assigned City department.

You must be willing to make difficult decisions, listen to different viewpoints and occasionally receive criticism.

This is not a position for someone seeking recognition. It requires time, patience, preparation and a thick skin. However, it is also a meaningful opportunity to represent your neighbors and help shape Litchfield’s future.

If you live in Ward 4, care about our community and are ready to serve, I encourage you to apply. Please share this with someone you believe would be a strong candidate!
