At 2044 last night East Litchfield Fire and Litchfield Fire were dispatched to East Litchfield Road for the reported odor of smoke in the residence. East Litchfield Engines 26, 25 and 24 responded and were joined by Litchfield Engine 4 and Ladder 1. Firefighters on scene used thermal imaging cameras and gas meters to check all floors of the residence for signs of fire as well as the exterior. After a thorough search Fire Command determined that the exterior electric de-icing cables were the cause. Once unplugged and the breaker off, the caretaker was advised to contact an electrician and firefighters returned to service. Our thanks to Litchfield for their teamwork last night!

East Litchfield Volunteer Firefighter Michael J. Brunetto Jr. was presented the Fire Safety Commendation Award by Timothy S.
