West Nile Virus Found in Fairfield County:
The Fairfield County Health Department (FCHD) has identified a pool of mosquitoes collected by the department that were carrying West Nile Virus. The mosquitoes were collected in traps set by the department in Lancaster during routine monitoring.

Health Commissioner, Joe Ebel, reports that West Nile virus is spread to people through the bite of an infected mosquito. There are no vaccines or medicines to prevent West Nile, so the best way to prevent West Nile is to protect yourself from mosquito bites.

The Lithopolis Local Live- Summer Series’ final show for 2026 will be on Thursday, August 27 from 6:45p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Village of Lithopolis is excited to announce Shampoo for the Monks and ATTESA will be concluding this year’s summer series with some high energy performances!
Shampoo for the Monks was born in the basements and backyards of Athens, Ohio. The band draws from a verity of blues, rock n’ roll inspirations and plays whatever else feels right in the moment. They don’t; take themselves too seriously on stage, but their energy stays with you long after each performance like the song that plays at the end credits of your favorite movie.
ATTESA is a six-piece, female-fronted indie rock band from Columbus playing original music. They cite bands like The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Led Zeppelin, and Queens of the Stone Age as key influences, and it shows. The songs are guitar-driven and direct, with enough edge to keep things interesting. Throw in a bit of Argentinian fire and Spanish bleeding into the lyrics, and you get a band that plays with everything they've got, chasing that moment when the energy hits the crowd and bodies start moving in the pit. Honest, passionate, and just getting started.
Please join us this Thursday in Wilson Park to see these vibrant performers!
