Well done Warwick Ambulance!

Well done Warwick Ambulance!

The sepsis antibiotic protocol pilot program is now live in Lititz, Warwick Township, and surrounding areas. In partnership with UPMC Lititz and under the leadership of our medical director, Dr. Christine Dang, our ALS providers are now able to identify qualifying sepsis patients, draw targeted blood samples in the field, and start antibiotics before hospital arrival.

This is a major step forward in prehospital care. Evidence shows that earlier antibiotics in sepsis can reduce mortality and shorten ICU and hospital length of stay. Since launch earlier this week, two patients have already been treated using this new protocol.

We are proud of our clinicians and grateful to our partners at UPMC Lititz and the Pennsylvania Department of Health for their collaboration and trust. This is modern, progressive EMS delivering high level, evidence based care when minutes matter most.

On Tuesday we had some fun with the students at the end of a fire safety visit. Two Brickerville firefighters, Daniel and Wayne, had a friendly competition of who can get their gear on the quickest. All of us had fun cheering them on!

Please join us on Saturday, Sept. 6th at 8am.

Please join us on Saturday, September 6th as the Warwick Emergency Services Commission hosts the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, beginning at 8am. The ceremony will take place in our park, located adjacent to the Lititz Library. Our keynote speaker this year will be Giselle Jiggetts, an NYPD Officer (retired) who worked on 9/11/2001 in New York City, and the following weeks at Ground Zero. We will also honor three local first responders for their service to our community. A limited amount of chairs will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own chairs too.

Last night, over 60 volunteers from our four fire companies - Brickerville, Brunnerville, Lititz, and Rothsville - gathered together at Lincoln Shoe Company for an evening of learning. Mike Michael, a volunteer firefighter at Lititz FC and an employee of Lititz Mutual Insurance Company, and Cpl. Ryan Gehman of the Penna. State Police Fire Marshal Division, gave a presentation on the importance of fire scene preservation and origin and cause investigation. Using case studies of recent fires in the area, they explained the role of the fire department, fire marshal office, insurance companies, and restoration companies.

A HUGE THANK YOU to Lincoln Shoe Company for providing the space to host our event and to Casey Tommasi from Restoration Relief for providing snacks and drinks for our volunteers. We truly appreciate our business partners in our community.

Check out this commendation about Firefighter Stephen Martin, who started his fire service career with the Brunnerville Fire Company (and still volunteers when he is able to). We’re very proud of his accomplishments of becoming a career firefighter and being a part of this rescue. This citation is well deserved! Congratulations Stephen Martin!
