Today is National Fentanyl Awareness Day

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is driving overdose deaths across the country—and it’s impacting communities of all sizes.

⚠️ What you should know:
• Fentanyl is up to 50–100 times stronger than morphine
• Just one pill can be deadly
• It is often mixed into other drugs without a person’s knowledge
• You cannot see, smell, or taste it

💔 Why this matters:
Many people who overdose didn’t know they were taking fentanyl. It only takes a very small amount to cause life-threatening breathing problems within minutes.

👨‍👩‍👧 It can affect anyone—teens, adults, and families in every community.

✅ How you can help:
• Talk to your kids and loved ones about the risks
• Never take medications that are not prescribed to you
• Be aware of the signs of an overdose
• Carry Naloxone (Narcan) if it’s available to you

💜 Awareness saves lives.

🚨 Community Reminder from the FVMPD 🚨

We’ve recently seen an increase in vehicle entries and thefts from unlocked cars overnight. In several cases money, electronics and even fi****ms have be taken.

The good news? These crimes are often preventable.

Please take a moment each night to:

🔒 Lock your vehicle doors
💼 Remove valuables (wallets, purses, electronics, cash, etc.)
🔑 Take your keys and key fobs with you
💡 Park in well-lit areas when possible

Most vehicle-related thefts occur simply because cars are left unlocked and items are left in plain view. Don’t make it easy for someone to take advantage.

Working together, we can keep our community safe. If you see suspicious activity, don’t hesitate to report it.
