🚨 DRIVE SOBER OR GET PULLED OVER 🚨

Labor Day Weekend is a time to enjoy the last days of summer, spend time with family and friends, and make some good memories. But if alcohol is part of your plans, make a plan before you start drinking.

🍺 If you drink, DON’T DRIVE.
🚗 Designate a sober driver.
📱 Use a rideshare or taxi.
🏠 Make arrangements to stay where you are.

An OWI can cost you far more than a ride home—and a decision to drive impaired can change your life or someone else’s forever.

This Labor Day Weekend, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. Our officers will be out working to keep our roads safe.

In the interest of student safety, the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, the Village of Little Chute, and the Little Chute Area School District have collaborated with community partners like the Safe Routes to School organization to make enhancements and safety changes to student pedestrian traffic. These changes were made with the intention of increasing student safety.

First: The Little Chute Public Works Department is in the process of installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons(RRFB’s) at the intersections of Freedom Road and Florida Avenue (by Kwik Trip) and Taylor Street and Greenfield Drive (by St Lukes Church).

Second: The Public Works Department is eliminating the crosswalk for County Highway OO/North Avenue at Taylor Street. The school zone and crosswalk signs will all be removed from County Highway OO/North Avenue. For those who previously used the Taylor Street and County Highway OO/North Avenue crosswalk, the recommended route is to use the crossing guard service at the intersection of County Highway OO and Freedom Road, and then students can walk east on County Highway OO to Buchanan Street to go south again. Another option is for students to cross on Taylor Street at Greenfield Drive with the new RRFB, walk South on the East sidewalk of Taylor Street, and then walk East on the north sidewalk of County Highway OO/North Avenue to Buchanan Street.

Students should not be crossing the railroad tracks away from the intersections with streets.

Students should not be crossing Freedom Road at Greenfield Drive. This is NOT a pedestrian intersection.

All students should be going to Florida Avenue to cross County Highway N/Freedom Road.

Parents, please educate your students on the proper use of the RRFB’s. The most common cause of accidents with the RRFB’s is people pushing the button and starting to walk without first making sure traffic has stopped.

An RRFB is also being installed near the intersection of Main Street and Depot Street in the Village of Little Chute to improve the safety of students.

Tomorrow is the first day of school! 🎒📚✏️

As students head back to the classroom and families begin settling into new routines, we’d like to remind everyone to slow down and stay alert. Please watch carefully for children walking, biking, and waiting for the bus.

The first few days of school can be a little hectic as everyone adjusts to new schedules and routines, so please be patient and give yourself a little extra time.

Let’s all do our part to help make the start of the school year safe and successful for everyone. Wishing all students, families, teachers, and school staff a wonderful first day! 🍎🚌

The safety of your children and our crossing guards is our highest priority. Going forward, there will be an important change for the students crossing at the intersection of North Avenue (County OO) and Freedom Road (County N) near Little Chute High School.

Crossing guards will no longer assist students crossing the north and west side of the Freedom Road and North Avenue intersection. Crossing guards will only cross students on the south and east side of the intersection (see attached photo).

Those who previously used the north or west crosswalk should instead cross at Freedom Road and Florida Avenue or North Avenue and Madison Street.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we make changes to our crosswalks to help make school crossing safer for our children. We know changes to familiar traffic patterns can take some getting used to, especially during the busy morning and afternoon school rush. We appreciate everyone slowing down, paying attention, following the new crossing patterns, ang giving our crossing guards and students the time and space they need to cross safely.

Substitute Crossing Guards are needed in the Village of Little Chute!

We are seeking dedicated individuals who want to be a part of our team ensuring Little Chute Area School District students get to and from school safely!

Substitute Crossing Guards help keep our full time crossings staffed in case of a sick call, planned vacation or when a Guard is otherwise unavailable. These staff members will help provide consistency for students and reduce traffic risks while they walk to and from school. Substitute Crossing Guards also help prevent gaps in coverage and support our full time Guard staff.

What do we offer?

➡️Starting pay $16.70 per hour
➡️All equipment provided
➡️Summers and holidays off
