Structure Fire - Stone Church Rd

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, at approximately 23:55 hours. LCFD Engine 1 and Tanker 1 were dispatched to the area of Stone Church Rd and Main St. for reports of a possible basement fire with smoke in the residence. Additional resources from Tiverton Fire Department were requested. The East Bay Tanker Task Force was activated upon confirmation of a structure fire. Upon arrival crews reported smoke in the residence and exterior damage to the Charlie/Delta corner. Crews were directed to a crawlspace accessible from the basement and upon entering the crawlspace found the area of origin. The Tanker Task Force response was cancelled and the scene was handled by LC and Tiverton departments. Crews utilized pressurized water cans to bring fire under control and additional manpower began overhaul looking for extension. A Westport Fire Department, Massachusetts Rescue was dispatched to the scene to evaluate a first responder, no transport was required. The State Fire Marshal's Office responded as well as the town Building Official. No injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.

The Little Compton Fire Dept will be hosting a mobile blood drive on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 3-7pm at the Public Safety Complex. The Rhode Island Blood Center will be running a promotion “Saving Lives One Pint At A Time”. Donors 21+ will receive a beverage voucher at participating venues. There are several appointments still available! Scan the QR code or visit www.RIBC.org/drives and use code RR2661 to schedule. Walk-ins accepted should availability allow. Remember to eat and hydrate prior to donating and please bring a photo ID. See you there!

LCFD at Circle of Friends

On Saturday, the LCFD had the pleasure and privilege of participating in this month's Circle of Friends Gathering. Circle of Friends is a monthly social gathering created especially for individuals living with disabilities. We were able to showcase what we do and the trucks we use to do it to an incredibly welcoming audience. We would like to thank the Circle of Friends program and the community center for being such great hosts!

We are excited to announce our 2nd Annual Pig Roast fundraiser will be held on Sept. 12th from 12p-5p at the Little Compton Game Club located at 88 John Dyer Rd Little Compton, RI. Little Compton Fire Department is Hiring

The Little Compton Fire Department is seeking entry level and lateral transfer candidates for the position of Firefighter/AEMT-Cardiac. The applicant must possess at least a current EMT License.

The following requirements must be met prior to the application filing period:
-Age Requirement: Minimum eighteen (18) years of age.
-Education Requirement: At the time of filing, you must possess a four (4) year high school diploma or an equivalent General Education Diploma (GED).
-United States Citizenship: Applicant must be a United States citizen and provide proof of citizenship.
-Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs (RIAFC) PPA test certificate: Applicant must be listed with the RIAFC as having passed the Physical --Performance Assessment test (PPA).
-Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs (RIAFC) Written Exam
-Lateral transfers will be accepted

Lithium-Ion Battery Incident

Today, crews responded to remove a potentially hazardous lithium-ion battery. The battery which was in a laptop, was swollen. This is a sign that the battery could overheat or catch on fire. The battery was placed in a specialized container and removed from the property.

Remember these Lithium Ion Battery safety tips
Don’t use damaged batteries.
Use the correct charger.
Keep away from heat.
Charge on a hard surface.
Stop charging or use if they become hot
Dispose of batteries according to the manufacturer recommendations
