Youth Leadership Camp 2026 Recap #1
Learning & Growth

During the three-day camp, students explored leadership, resilience, and the power of a growth mindset through interactive activities and workshops.

They learned the value of teamwork, communication, and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. We hope the lessons and experiences from camp continue to inspire them with confidence as they take on future challenges.

This camp was supported by the New Jersey Children’s System of Care through its FY 2025–2026 Community Resource Development Fund (CRDF).

(New Jersey Children‘s System of Care)의 FY 2025–2026 커뮤니티 자원 개발 기금(CRDF)의 지원을 받아 진행되었습니다.

This camp was supported by the New Jersey Children’s System of Care through its FY 2025–2026 Community Resource Development Fund (CRDF).

Healing and growth happen best in community.

That is the belief at the heart of Family Touch‘s work — and it is why we are deeply grateful to The Grace and Mercy Foundation for supporting our mental health counseling and communal learning programs.

The Grace and Mercy Foundation invests in people’s capacity to learn, grow, and serve, a purpose that resonates deeply with Family Touch‘s commitment to strengthening individuals and families across the lifespan through culturally responsive education, mental health services, and community-based support.

With this support, Family Touch can continue providing individual, couple, family, and group counseling, while also creating spaces that foster reflection, connection, and personal growth.

Our Just Show Up communal learning program offers a low-barrier space for meaningful discussion, relationship-building, and shared encouragement. Regardless of age or background, participants come together to share perspectives and lived experiences, building trust, belonging, and intergenerational connection along the way.

These programs do more than provide services. They deepen community bonds, support emotional well-being, and help participants feel less isolated as they learn and grow together.

Thank you, The Grace and Mercy Foundation, for investing in programs that strengthen families, nurture community, and remind people that they are not alone on the journey.

When someone is living with memory loss, the whole community matters.

A confused older adult at a borough office.
A caregiver who is exhausted but still trying.
A family member who notices changes in a parent but does not know what to do.
A librarian, staff member, neighbor, or volunteer who wants to help but is unsure how to respond.

These are the moments Family Touch is preparing communities for.

Our dementia response training comes directly to your community, offering practical, compassionate guidance for caregivers, families, and people who work with or encounter older adults in everyday settings.

Family Touch has already hosted more than six dementia response workshops, including with Leonia Borough, Age-Friendly Leonia, and other community partners.

What makes our approach different is that it is not theoretical. Our Executive Director is a former long-term care administrator with real hands-on experience supporting individuals with dementia and memory-related challenges. That experience helps us focus on what families and frontline community members actually need: clear guidance, cultural sensitivity, practical tools, and reassurance.

Our Certified Dementia Practitioner-led workshops teach participants how to recognize symptoms, respond to confusion, reduce safety risks, manage difficult moments with dignity, and protect caregivers from burnout.

At Family Touch, we believe older adults and caregivers should not feel alone. They deserve to feel seen, respected, and supported by the communities around them.

Together, we can build more dementia-responsive communities.

Have we shared lately how deeply qualified — and deeply committed — our Family Touch team is?

Our senior wellness and health navigation work is led by staff who bring not only professional expertise, but genuine care for every older adult and family we serve.

Registered Nurse Hyesook Kwon guides community members through their health needs with clinical knowledge and compassion, helping them navigate care and feel less alone in the process.

Certified Dementia Practitioner Miyoung Kim leads our Senior Program and Dementia Response Training, equipping families, caregivers, and community workers with practical strategies they can use in real-life situations.

And they keep growing. Both staff members recently completed training through the Bergen County Department of Health Services, becoming certified peer leaders qualified to lead the Chronic Disease Management Program. This program supports older adults managing ongoing conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and more.

What makes Family Touch different is that our work is community-rooted, culturally informed, and grounded in relationships. We do not just provide information. We walk alongside older adults and families with practical tools, encouragement, and care.

We are proud of our team for continuing to grow, learn, and lead — so our community can be healthier, stronger, and better supported.

Families are resilient. But resilience does not grow in isolation. It grows when the right support is there, in the right language, at the right moment.

At Family Touch, we work every day to make that support real for families across Bergen County. We are grateful to Foundation@ Cross River for investing in this work.

With their support, Family Touch is expanding access to bilingual, culturally responsive counseling and family services — meeting families where they are, in the language they speak, and with an understanding of the realities they face.

We serve youth and parents navigating mental health challenges, caregivers supporting neurodivergent children, and families working through some of their hardest seasons.

For many of the families we serve, language, cost, stigma, and unfamiliar systems have long stood between them and the help they need. This partnership helps us continue dismantling those barriers so more families can access care with dignity — without having to translate themselves to be understood.

Thank you, Foundation@ Cross River, for your commitment to local communities and to the organizations working within them. We are proud to partner with you in building lasting resiliency for families across Bergen County.

Family Touch Senior Choir is more than just a group that sings together. With a heart for serving and sharing love, the choir actively gives back to the community by serving and connecting with diverse groups and communities. 🩵

We believe seniors are not only recipients of support, but also individuals who can give back, contribute, and discover their own value and purpose within the community. Through these experiences, participants are encouraged to recognize their importance, build meaningful connections, and experience a sense of belonging.

On May 16, our choir had the opportunity to visit America Wheat Mission in New Jersey and share songs and warm hearts together. Through music, we encouraged one another, shared joy, and created a meaningful time filled with gratitude and love. 🎶

The Mother Who Hid in the Art Museum Book Talk

On May 14, Family Touch hosted a warm and meaningful book talk with author Doyeon Han.
During the event, the author shared how The Mother Who Hid in the Art Museum began, the personal journey and stories behind writing the book, and reflections on six representative artworks connected to each chapter.

She spoke about how, through looking at art, she began asking herself deeper questions:
“What kind of life do I want to live?”
“What values truly matter to me?”

Participants were also invited to reflect on their own lives and inner questions through the artworks and conversations shared throughout the session.

Thank you to Doyeon Han and everyone who joined us for this meaningful time together. 💚

The Good Parenting Growth Workshop

Supported through a New Jersey grant program, The Good Parenting Growth Workshop Cohort 3 was held every Saturday from March 7 to May 2 at The Presbyterian Church of New Jersey.

Together with 10 participating parents, we spent time reflecting on healthy parenting and personal growth as caregivers. Based on pre- and post-program assessments, participants showed overall improvement in parenting competencies, with especially positive changes in parenting self-efficacy and emotional regulation.

We sincerely thank all participating parents and our partnering organization for being part of this journey.🩷 Family Touch will continue to provide programs that support healthy families and parent growth in our community.

Family Touch on the move!

Our Mobile Health Navigation Service was at the Leonia Senior Center Wellness Fair, where our health navigators and Director of Senior Services connected with local seniors and shared information about available support.

More than 20 seniors stopped by to ask about services and sign up, and our team will follow up to connect them with the appropriate resources and care.

This outreach was made possible with the generous support of the Friends Foundation for the Aging.

Through this initiative, Family Touch is traveling to bring health navigation services directly to older adults, along with senior wellness workshops led by a registered nurse and dementia response workshops led by a Certified Dementia Practitioner.

Family Touch

Friends Foundation for the Aging의 소중한 후원으로 가능했습니다.
