A message from your mayor 9/4/2026. Friday in the Flock – 9/4/2026
Good afternoon & happy Friday, everyone!
This week included our monthly Department Head Meeting, a monthly virtual meeting with local mayors, and participation in a regional wastewater needs assessment.
Work on the main Maintenance Building is nearing completion, and our Street Department personnel should be moving in soon! 🚧 Construction on City Hall continues at a slow and steady pace, and we anxiously await the day when both projects are complete and fully operational.
We also released the results of our traffic counter statistics for the first two roads we monitored. It was surprising to see the volume of vehicles traveling through these areas! The information gathered will be valuable as we continue evaluating traffic patterns, planning for the future, and identifying areas where improvements may eventually be needed.
As we move into September, things are certainly not slowing down. Budget season ramps up, construction projects are moving forward, and there is plenty of work happening behind the scenes to keep The Flock moving in the right direction.
I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend! Take some time to relax, spend time with family and friends, and enjoy the unofficial end of summer.

A message from your mayor 8/28/2026. Friday in the Flock – 8/28/2026
Good afternoon & Happy Friday, everyone! I hope all of you have had a wonderful week.
It’s hard to believe that we are about to wrap up the month of August. Fall—my favorite time of year—is right around the corner, and I cannot wait. Cooler, crisp temperatures. Colorful leaves. And that soothing, hypnotic rustle of the leaves when the wind blows. I can almost feel the stress just melt away… (almost). 🍂
Budgeting season begins shortly as well. Soon, you’ll start seeing notices for budget subcommittee meetings pop up as we look ahead to the 2027 budget year.
We typically adopt the upcoming year’s budget at our November Council Meeting, which means the results of the proposed 1% sales tax increase will not be known until we’ve already put the finishing touches on next year’s budget.
While the construction costs for our new buildings will be paid off, our operational and insurance costs will continue to increase. Fuel costs remain a significant concern as prices remain high, and we are also a year overdue to rotate out three of our oldest police units.
This will likely be one of the toughest budget years we’ve faced in a long time, but I have tremendous faith in our department heads and City Council to put together and adopt a successful plan to serve our community and support our staff.
I don’t want the budget discussion to seem like a sour note, so let me be clear when I say that I am very excited about the year(s) ahead.
From planned road improvements and more community engagement events, to increased training and a new building, there is a lot to look forward to.
The future is bright in The Flock. 🐦

Hwy. 72 Improvement Comments Needed!

This is our time as residents to advocate for Highway 72! A Public Comment period will be held Thursday, August 20, 2026 through Friday, September 4, 2026. 🚧 THIS IS OUR TIME TO ADVOCATE FOR HIGHWAY 72! 🚧
Pea Ridge and our surrounding communities are growing fast, and Highway 72 needs to keep up. This is an important opportunity for us as residents to make our voices heard and show ARDOT just how important improving and widening Hwy 72 is to our community.

August 20 – September 4, 2026
The Draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) is now available for public review, and YOUR COMMENTS MATTER.
