This afternoon, our volunteers joined by members of Pomaria Fire Department & Rescue Squad joined together for hands‑on grain bin rescue training through the Clemson Agricultural Safety Program.

Our crews practiced the proper techniques for safely extricating a trapped patient from a grain bin—one of the most challenging and time‑sensitive rescue scenarios in rural communities. Training like this helps ensure we’re ready to respond when every second counts.

We appreciate Clemson’s instructors for sharing their expertise and Pomaria Fire & Rescue for training alongside us. Strong partnerships make safer communities.

🔥If you’re noticing smoke hanging around the area today, don’t panic — it’s drifting up from the wildfires burning in Georgia. We’re not currently dealing with any active fires here at home.

We are still under a Red Flag Warning and a Statewide Burn Ban. Conditions are extremely dry, and even a small spark can turn into a big problem fast.

Please refrain from burning anything outdoors until conditions improve.

Little Mountain Fire‑Rescue would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU to our volunteers!

You give so much of yourselves to serve our community and help save the taxpayers of Newberry County a significant amount of money. Thank you for the countless sacrifices you make—taking time away from your families, attending endless trainings and meetings, working fundraisers, and most importantly, responding to emergency calls at all hours of the day and night.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to all the men and women who volunteer throughout Newberry County. Your service, dedication, and willingness to step up make a real difference every single day. You serve our communities with unmatched dedication and heart. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and our county is safer because of you!

Does your community rely on volunteer firefighters… and do you even know?

Across the country, volunteers are the ones responding when the call comes in. 🚒❤️ This National Volunteer Week, we’re recognizing the impact they make every day.

If you’ve ever thought about stepping up or your department needs more members, Make Me A Firefighter can help connect you.

🚨The South Carolina Forestry Commission TO ISSUE STATEWIDE BURNING BAN, EFFECTIVE AT 7 A.M. FRIDAY 🚨

The South Carolina Forestry Commission is issuing a State Forester's Burning Ban for all counties, effective at 7 a.m. Friday, April 17. A State Forester's Burning Ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including yard debris burning, prescribed burning, campfires, bonfires and other recreational fires in all unincorporated areas of the state.

While the ban does not apply to fires used for the preparation of food or fires used in appropriate enclosures (portable outdoor fireplaces, chimineas or permanent fire pits constructed of stone, masonry, metal or other noncombustible material that conforms with all applicable South Carolina fire codes), Forestry Commission officials urge the utmost caution burning outdoors under these exemptions.

Likewise, citizens should exercise extreme vigilance operating any equipment that could create sparks, avoid parking on dry grass and refrain from using fireworks.

The ban will stay in effect until further notice, which will come in the form of an official announcement from the Forestry Commission.
