This years Equipment Operators Roadeo brought together staff members from across the state to put their equipment skills to the test. Every event was designed to reinforce real-world safety practices in a controlled, hands-on way. The Roadeo is how we keep our crews sharp and our roads safer.

Big thanks to everyone who competed and helped make it a success!

📍 Highway 118 in Joiner

Come with us to give this old bridge a new lease on life! What you're watching is our crew replacing the deck panels on this channel beam bridge - a faster alternative to a full replacement that saved ARDOT significant time and money while getting this bridge off of the weight-restricted list. With this two weeks of work, this bridge is not expected to need any additional work for at least 30 years.

All right, you guys. We know traffic on the Greenwood Bypass is a headache right now. We're working on a few improvements to help ease the backups. We drew a little something to try to explain...

Right now, we're installing two westbound right-turn lanes along the bypass: one for traffic heading north on Main Street and one for traffic heading north on S. Coker Street. Those additional turn lanes should help reduce a bit of the congestion at the two-way stops.

As for the intersection of the Bypass and Highway 10, it will remain a three-way stop for the time being. We can't install a dedicated eastbound right-turn lane onto Highway 10 until the signal poles for the future traffic signals are in place. As soon as we're able, we'll add that turn lane and then move forward with installing the traffic signals shortly after.

We know it's frustrating, and we appreciate everyone hanging in there while we get these improvements completed.

Slow down, give space, don't pass. Our striping teams are out while the sun is, working to keep lines on the roadway visible. Learn more about the crew and what the work looks like.
