This FBI is crushing narcotics networks and dismantling criminal enterprises across the country. As part of Summer Heat 2.0, our teams have seized nearly 10,000 kg of narcotics and 3,116 weapons, and made 5,097 arrests, and we’re not slowing down. On this International Overdose Awareness Day, we reaffirm our commitment to combat drug trafficking organizations and crush violent crime to restore safety in our communities.

Training for the threat. Protecting Arkansas.

FBI Little Rock hosted tryouts for agents seeking to become bomb technicians with the Arkansas Render Safe Task Force, the FBI-led bomb squad in Arkansas made up of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

FBI bomb technicians perform some of the most dangerous work in the Bureau, responding to and investigating actual and threatened explosive devices in the U.S. and around the world. Technicians train extensively to prepare for dangerous, time-sensitive situations and earn their certification through the FBI Hazardous Devices School in Huntsville, Alabama.

We’re grateful to our partners at the Arkansas State Police and Little Rock Fire Department for joining us for today’s tryouts. Together, through the Arkansas Render Safe Task Force, our partners work every day to protect Arkansas from some of the most dangerous threats.

The FBI’s Reported Crimes in the Nation 2025 report shows an 18.1% decrease in the murder rate nationwide in 2025 compared to 2024.

This decline wasn’t limited to the national level. Arkansas also saw a decrease in its murder rate from 2024 to 2025, supporting the broader nationwide decline in violent crime.

These results are made possible through the strong partnerships Little Rock has with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners across Arkansas, as well as initiatives like Operation Summer Heat 2.0, which takes an enhanced approach to targeting violent crime and keeping violent offenders out of our communities.

Together, we’re crushing violent crime and keeping Arkansas safe.

This summer, Little Rock and our federal, state, and local partners have been crushing violent crime and targeting violent offenders as part of Operation Summer Heat 2.0, a nationwide FBI initiative focused on reducing violent crime and keeping our communities safe.

Following Operation Viper (June 10–14), our continued efforts from June 15 through today have resulted in:

🚩27 arrests
🚩5 weapons recovered
🚩 ~90 grams of illicit narcotics seized
🚩 $3,500+ in illicit proceeds seized

These aren’t just numbers—they’re real results that make our communities safer.

And the impact goes beyond individual operations. The FBI’s 2025 crime data shows violent crime decreased nationwide—and in Arkansas—from 2024 to 2025.

Partnerships work. We’re not letting up.
