We 💯 agree 👏 👏. Thank you Senator Tom Cotton (AR) and Senator Tim Kaine (VA) for putting Arkansas patients first in the Tricare pharmacy program with your introduction of the Rx Access Act today in the U.S. Senate.

I applaud Senator Tom Cotton for standing up for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families by ensuring that they have access to prescription drugs at pharmacies of their choice.

The Rx ACCESS Act, which Senator Cotton has co-sponsored, would require pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to reimburse pharmacies participating in the TRICARE program either the actual cost of a drug or the national average drug acquisition cost, thus shielding independent pharmacies from unfair reimbursement practices and empowering military members and their families to use the pharmacy they choose—not the one chosen for them by the PBMs.

As an almost 30-year Army officer, my family and I have seen firsthand the anti-competitive ways PBMs manipulate the market and burden servicemembers.

For far too long, PBMs have abused their power to the detriment of consumers and independent pharmacies to benefit themselves. We are addressing this at the state level, and I am pleased to see legislation introduced in Congress to address it nationally. https://tinyurl.com/mwdkk84f

CVS Audit in Tennessee shows why Act 624 was passed in Arkansas. It’s a blatant conflict of interest for a PBM to be both a price setter and price taker for prescription drugs. 16,000% markups mean unaffordable drugs and poor patient health and safety. Bravo to US Congress, The FTC and President Trump this last week. It’s only the beginning.

🚨 BREAKING: A new audit from the TN Dept. of Commerce & Insurance exposes widespread violations by Caremark/CVS Health's PBM, including discriminatory reimbursements (paying their own affiliated pharmacies up to 16,000% more than non-affiliated pharmacies), banned spread pricing, and system failures in pharmacy appeals. Tennessee pharmacists, patients, and employers deserve better.

TPA issued a formal statement calling on Tennessee lawmakers to take urgent action to continue and accelerate efforts on PBM reform to protect patients, employers, taxpayers, and to preserve pharmacy care across Tennessee. To learn more, visit: https://bit.ly/405ddMn
