VICTIM SERVICES INTAKE COORDINATOR - CENTRAL

General Position Description
This position involves providing assistance on behalf of the Women’s Council on African American Affairs” Victim Services Crisis Program to provide comprehensive services to victims of violent crimes to include; hospital accompaniment, court advocacy, crisis counseling, emergency assistance and supportive services. The position will report to the Victims Services Manager – Central.

Annual Salary: $27,300 FTE: (part-time) 30 hours per week

Job Duties and Responsibilities
o Provide direct client crisis intakes, advocacy, counseling and referral services to victims of violent crimes via telephone or in person
o Assist with the planning and implementation of educational programs for community and school groups and other training material to increase public awareness on victim services
o Help Victim Services Manager with training of volunteers and maintains volunteer reports
o Assist victims with completion of Arkansas Crime Victim compensation claims when
advocates are out of office or unavailable
o Assist Victim Services Manager in completing quarterly reports and maintain program record keeping throughout the grant funding year
o Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with local community and partner agencies
o Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications
A successful candidate must be able to perform each job duty and responsibility at a satisfactory level.

Education and Experience
Minimum Education Completed: High School diploma or greater. related field experience is generally preferred. Must have experience in services work.

Skills and Qualifications
· Proficient in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
· Must have internet usage and research skills.
· Record keeping skills.
· Planning and organizational skills.
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Mandatory Qualifications
· Must not smoke, chew, spit, or use any type of to***co products including e-cigs or illegal
drugs.
· Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
· Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.
· Must have your own transportation

COMMUNITY HEALTH WORKER

Job Title: Community Health Worker (Black Male Gunshot Victims)
Location: Little Rock Office (will also travel five surrounding counties periodically)
Position Type: Full-time

Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Health Worker to support research for black male gunshot victims in our community. This role focuses on providing holistic care, resources, and support to help individuals recover physically, emotionally, and socially. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to community health, have an understanding of the unique challenges faced by gunshot victims, and be well-connected in community.
Reporting to: They will be directly supervised by MPI, with the assistance of the Project Manager. They will also work closely with the UAMS research team and receive guidance for engaging survivors from the UAMS hospital-based Peer CHW to further ensure a seamless intervention delivery for participants enrolled from both hospital and community settings.
Key Responsibilities:
• Recruitment: Recruit intervention participants in the community setting. They are responsible for engaging research participants, conducting initial needs assessments, providing intervention peer support, assisting with service referrals and participant follow up, and tracking all participant encounters
• Direct Support: Provide one-on-one support to male gunshot victims, assisting with mental health needs referrals, and reintegration into the community.
• Resource Navigation: Help clients access medical care, rehabilitation services, counseling, and other necessary resources, including housing and financial assistance.
• Education and Outreach: Conduct community outreach to raise awareness about gun violence and its effects, and promote preventive measures and resources available to victims.
• Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for clients, ensuring their voices are heard in healthcare settings and community programs.
• Crisis Intervention: Respond to immediate needs and crises, providing emotional support and guidance during critical times.
• Data Collection and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of client interactions and outcomes, contributing to program evaluation and improvement efforts.
• Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, social workers, law enforcement, and community organizations to create a network of support for clients.
• Workshops and Support Groups: Facilitate or co-facilitate workshops and support groups focused on healing, coping strategies, and empowerment for gunshot victims.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in community health, social services, or a related field, with a focus on trauma-informed care and gun violence prevention preferred.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, ability to build rapport with clients, and cultural competency to work with diverse populations.
• Knowledge: Understanding of the health impacts of gun violence, trauma-informed care principles, and community resources available to gunshot victims.
• Certifications: Certification as a Community Health Worker (CHW) or similar credential preferred.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate client schedules.
