Arkansas American Legion

Arkansas American Legion This is the official page for The Department of Arkansas American Legion. This forum encourages the exchange of differing opinions and ideals.

In contrast to other veterans organizations, the Legion offers a number of local programs and activities to strengthen its commitment to our nation’s grass roots and the people we serve. American Legion Baseball is one of the nation’s most successful amateur athletic programs; it continues to educate youths on the importance of sportsmanship and develops the quality of our country’s citizenship. T

he Heroes to Hometowns program is the only nationwide reintegration assistance service for wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally, millions of dollars in donations have been given to fellow veterans and their families in times of grief, and various scholarship opportunities ensure the future success of our youth. General Rules:
The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization with great political influence perpetuated by its grass-roots involvements in the legislation process. Legionnaires’ sense of obligation to their community, state and nation drives an honest advocacy for veterans in Washington. The Legion stands not behind politics, but the issues and people that institute progress by focusing on veterans rights and quality of life. However, the use of vulgarity or profanity, or offensive terms will result in posts being deleted. Any personal attacks or allegations against fellow posters or individuals will result in posts being deleted. No name calling. Posts that infringe upon the intellectual property of another will be deleted. Repeated violations will result in a ban. When responding to a post, think about how you’d want to be addressed, and please post accordingly. Repeated violations of simple courtesy will result in a ban. Don't turn it into a personal attack (i.e. name-calling, being condescending, etc.). Those posts that don't follow this rule will be deleted. If you disagree with a policy decision made by an elected official, you are free to criticize that individual. But leave political parties out of it. Any references criticizing Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, Tea Party members, etc. will result in a deletion of the comment – whether it’s a comment or a reply to a comment. A second violation will result in a ban.

Since 1990, March 25 has been recognized as National Medal of Honor Day to bring awareness to all recipients of the medal and of the medal’s history. 🎖️ Pvt. Jacob Parrott of the Andrews' Raiders was the first Medal of Honor recipient on March 25, 1863. Since then, the Medal of Honor has been awarded to many servicemembers throughout the years to recognize their bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism. 🇺🇸

We’ve started a new video series, “From The Archives” that will spotlight historical videos from the archives of the Library and Museum Division. The videos feature Legionnaires at national conventions, supporting youth programs, communicating about who the Legion is, fulfilling the four pillars, and caring for veterans and their families.
The first videos of this new series have been released leading up to The American Legion 107th birthday; as they are added, additional videos can be viewed on the The American Legion National Headquarters YouTube Channel.
Check out what what we've put together: https://www.legion.org/information-center/news/library/2026/march/legion-launching-historic-video-series.

Can you find your county on a map without it being labeled?

Pro tip for storm season:

Know where your county is on a map and familiarize what counties border you. This will help you greatly.

This is not a post to slander anyone, some people just struggle to find themselves on maps. This can make it tough when reading forecast information.

Learn your county name, what part of the county you live in and what counties border you.

It would also be helpful to learn what region of Arkansas you live in.

Whether it’s northern, western, central, southern, or eastern Arkansas.

If you do learn and study these things, storm season information broadcasted to you will become easy to understand.

Severe weather is possible for some (not all) of Arkansas today.

Remain weather aware through the afternoon and early evening hours.

Stick with the Arkansas Weather Network for your severe weather coverage.

Veterans! You are invited to the Drew Cameron Studio Program on Sunday, March 15 from 1:00-4:30 pm at Crystal Bridges Museum Studios! Drew Cameron is a Veteran artist who transforms military uniforms into handmade paper. Participants will experience the papermaking process from start to finish while sharing their experiences and connecting with those around them. Veterans can also contribute their uniforms to the legacy of the project but will not have time to create paper from their personal uniform during this session.

Crystal Bridges Museum Studios would be honored to welcome you to this creative experience! If you would like to participate, there are only 20 spots available so please make sure to register with the Google form link: https://forms.gle/kNSA6sZ8dg89RmD89
